    All grain brewing cost

Once you are set up for all grain brewing, how much if any cost savings is there when buying ingredients? Should I consider buying in bulk? I just brewed my first batch and I think I'm addicted to this hobby already.

My beermaking kit seems to be lacking a siphon

total sarcasm. I re-read the post and I can see how rude I might have come across. Half serious that I probably wouldn't have figured out how to get a siphon without asking:) Thank you for the help.

My beermaking kit seems to be lacking a siphon

Thanks, I certainly wasn't going to figure that one out on my own. I can put away the booger puller device now.

My beermaking kit seems to be lacking a siphon

Everywhere I've looked online and in books seems to tell me that my beginner beermaking kit is missing an auto siphon. I've been playing with the tubes and haven't been able to figure out how I was supposed to get siphon with my kit, assuming that the problem was me, not the kit. I am now...

    Must have accessories

I won't mind brewing in the kitchen for my first couple batches but I agree I need to get setup for brewing outside. I saw a wort chiller in action before so I know I want one as well, no reason to wait hours before I can pitch yeast.

    Must have accessories

I lowered the temp in that room down to 63. hope that works until I decide on a more reliable method.

    Must have accessories

Is the swamp cooler intended for brewing lagers? if so, I am not doing any lagers yet...if you think I should use a swamp cooler for ales, I have a spare bedroom that stays 65-68 year round that I can use. Also, I am ordering a wort chiller today. I'll need it for my next batch.

I picked up a kit from these guys and was wondering what others thought about their products. This one is Robust Porter.

    Using the hydrometer

I guess I didn't realize what the tube that the hydrometer came in was for. one question down, 999 to go...

    Using the hydrometer

What is the best method of using the hydrometer? Do you just sanitize it and put it in your fermenter to test SG right before you pitch yeast? The kit I have doesn't really give me the option of doing it any other way.

    Noob from Montana

Hey, thanks. (and yes, I play an Epiphone guitar. You might be the first person to have figured that out on your own.) I've been reading "How To Brew" online, I agree with you it is an excellent resource. I made my first batch of beer today, it was Thomas Cooper's IPA. I THINK I did...

    Noob from Montana

Just wanted to introduce myself to the homebrewing community... I had a chance to watch a friend make an all grain brew a couple years ago and promised myself I would get involved in the hobby someday. Well I broke down yesterday and bought a beginner's kit from Brewer's Best. It's a basic...
