    The [Horribly Unpopular] Soccer Thread

Well I better send the wifey an e-mail warning her of the game tonight. She may want to make plans due to a screaming fan downstairs.... e-mail sent.

    The [Horribly Unpopular] Soccer Thread

Ugh, I was in Alaska for work this weekend but I heard about the abismal performance by my Sounders. I'll watch the game tonight, but things went from hopeful for the playoffs to pretty far out of touch. Come on 4-0 shutout! Reno don't be putting out any good vibes towards Real SL.

    Uncontrollable fermenting temps.

If you want better control on the cheaper side look into a brew belt like these: http://www.austinhomebrew.com/product_info.php?cPath=178_33_465&products_id=10996 I have one and use it all the time to keep temps up when the garage gets cold.

    would this brew pot work?

Yeah that should work. Nice find, although it looks like its sold out for now.

Can I add pumpkin pie flavor after my beer is kegged?

I'd think you could make a pumpkin pie spice tea like in the Thunderstruck recipe and add that into the keg. I know people dry hop directly into a keg they are serving so I don't know why this wouldn't work.

Yeah Joker I thought the Timbers did a great job this year. Its awesome to have such a great rivalry going up here. Now if only the Whitecaps would show up to play.

    Cost of Kegging?

    A. I pay $15 to swap 5 lbs. tanks at the LHBS. B. I carbed 7 5 gallon kegs and dispensed a total of 8 kegs with it (I refilled a cornie at a micro brewery). I also used the tank for purging carboys during transfer, and filling some bottles from these kegs.

Stupid question: AG Brew stand made of wood?

Like the one in the last page of the link I posted? It should work just fine. Just put some flashing or sheet metal to try and deflect some of the heat away from the wood surface.

Stupid question: AG Brew stand made of wood?

https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/show-me-your-wood-brew-sculpture-rig-73794/ I plan on making up a nice single tier out of wood this winter.

Yeah, sorry Pappers. No matter who came away with the cup it was going to be a game for the record books. Like I said, I had to listen to it on the radio but it sounded like it was a pretty fair match.

Maybe I'll swing into Costco tomorrow on my way to the LHBS. There's always hope!

    The [Horribly Unpopular] Soccer Thread

I just want to give a big shout out for the Sounders big win last night against Chicago for the US Open Cup Final! I had to listen to it on the radio but it was an intense back and forth game the whole damn time! Glad they came away with the win in the end, its a nice historical hat trick. I'll...

    2009 Dechutes Jubelale

Nice, I took the big batch from the first page and re-scaled it. Then I tweaked it a little more to fit my system and to make it easier to order the grains instead of saying I need 1.6 pounds of Crystal 150. Last years clone turned out pretty good, although it had a bit of extract flavor that...

    2009 Dechutes Jubelale

Bumping this thread as its that time of year again! Just finished plugging this into Beersmith 2. I made an extract with steeping grains last year based on this thread. Here's what I'll be making this weekend. I never heard anyone's opinions on mash temp but 153* seems to put my FG in the...

Stoppers for Carboys getting in the carboy

+1 I use these now on my secondary carboys after the other kind would get stuck in the necks. I never had one go all the way in, but it was too close for comfort. These so far have worked great.

    brass fittings

I used brass for most of my fittings until just recently. If you're concerned about the surface lead on brass fittings search on here for "pickling brass". I did this once, I guess it made me feel better.

    question

What kind of beer is it? Sometimes my krausens don't fall back during primary. I usually just rack from underneath it into secondary. If you're going straight from primary to bottling, I'd just make sure you hydrometer readings are holding steady for a couple days. Then siphon from underneath...
