    Egg/fart smell in kegged cider!

If memory serves, you can help it along by purging the keg a bunch as it will help to drive the sulfur off when the CO2 escapes. I don't think it is necessarily very efficient though. I feel like I remember adding more nutrients would help reduce sulfur, but I am not sure if that is true or...

    attenuation help needed.

I will also chime in that 1.015 with beers that big is pretty darn good. nothing else to add in terms of techniques though, everyone has hit on it.

were you able to get full conversion at such a low mash temp?

    First yeast starter

I wouldn't think the yeast in there would be completely gone by now. is it a smaller brew shop? is their turnover of ingredients not as high? you cooled the wort down before pitching correct?

    Equipment question and humble brag

We are all living and you sir are in 3017. I have seen your entire process of purging the keg and then racking the beer in through the out tube before. after hearing about it again in detail from Brulosophy, I adopted the same technique. However, I just open the PRV and let the excess CO2 escape...

    First yeast starter

in theory, there should be something still alive in there. was it 6 months after the manufacturing date or the best buy date?

If they are, they are getting far less press about it.

Small number maybe, but they are doing hugely terrible things with it.

    Crypto currency

The fact that criminals can deal so easily in this currency is one of its biggest issues. While the EU will be able to help with regulations, it isn't all encompassing. this issue is one of the reason while I do not invest in them at all. Along with the fact investing them is essentially gambling.

    Crypto currency

I think this is an interesting point. I think it is really more of a comment on the reform banking needs to go through rather than pros towards a cryptocurrency. It is becoming increasingly common for banks to allow customers to cheaply and instantaneously transfer money. Wells Fargo, who I bank...

    Crypto currency

From my understanding, and someone feel free to correct me, but I believe the whole bitcoin system has a limited number of coins that can exist. Whether or not someone can undermine this is another story that I am not educated enough to answer.

    Crypto currency

To be fair, there is nothing "real" that backs up the reserve. Money is all based on promises and perception essentially. You and I both accept dollars as a form of payment and know we can then exchange them for goods and services. This is really all that is holding it all afloat. If enough...

    Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale

I would assume it is just changes in hops from year to year. in a beer like this, I would think our enjoyment of it is highly dependent on the hops. I had one this year (and a tasting of it at the Chico brewery when we took a tour the day after Thanksgiving) and I didn't think it was very hoppy...

1 dry yeast packet not enough for 3 gallon batch? - Brewer's Friend

I would then recommend that you look into building starters. I use the Beersmith yeast pitch calculator to figure out how big a starter I need and then build up my yeast with that. I have a stir plate, but these aren't necessary. I love starters as I know I have more yeast than I started with...

1 dry yeast packet not enough for 3 gallon batch? - Brewer's Friend

to learn more about yeast in general, I would buy the yeast book from brewer's publications. it is written by chris white and Jamil. I really learned a lot from it.

1 dry yeast packet not enough for 3 gallon batch? - Brewer's Friend

one packet is generally enough. it is really more a guideline/generalization. just like one liquid vial is "enough."

New to all grain / wanting to make the switch

What you have pictured here is essentially my setup. I think I may have different brand coolers, but it doesn't matter. It works extremely well, particularly for single infusion mashing. All grain in a nutshell: you substitute the malt extract you typically use with base malts. If you are...

    Budweiser Repeal Reserve Amber Lager

It was good enough. I appreciate a good amber lager and this was decently up there. However, I still have other brands I prefer. I am not 100% sure I like those ones more only for the brand, but I am okay with that. While I try to support craft, I don't mind buying BMC. However, this isn't good...
