    Here is an idea. You could design it so the gaskets are hidden by the collar with some trim or molding of your choice. If anything it will also add some character to the design.

    The first thing I would do is to start taking notes of the dimensions. Then look at what you are planning to use for a keg. Is this a 4 cubic foot model?

    Thank folks. I bought fresh hops and yeast a week or so ago (left that out). So that part is good. So that would make sense for the 30 minute boil with it being pre hopped lme. Never took that into consideration. This is my first time using this style lme.

    I would try (can't hurt) setting the difference between your hot and cold more than just 3 degrees apart. Try something more like 5 and see what happens. From what I am reading there is a 2-7 adj between stages. I am not sure if this will help but it is worth a shot. As for the ebay ones I have...

    Ok so I did have the calcs correct then. I don't have good means for aerating so just kinda shook it some without spilling. I do need to get some form of aeration tool to have. I will grab some nutrient tomorrow as well. That goes in while rehydrating or separately into the fermenter?

    Gravity was on the money at 1.060. Thank will definitely check that out. I only went with the starter since that was what was "suggested" where I got the kit from. I will just go get more and pitch tomorrow night after work.
