    Man, I gotta pick this up after reading this thread. All I found at walmart were 12 packs, and I didnt want to commit to 12 beers I might not like. Might have to go for it though!     keeping primary cool?

    Temperature control is at its most critical during the first 5 or so days of fermentation. Letting the temps rise a little after the first week probably wont hurt much, but I would avoid it if possible. I would not let if get above 70 degrees. Remember that stable temps within the yeast range...

    Most people put their primary in a cooler with frozen bottles of water to keep it cool, that seems like the easiest. Maybe you can go buy one of those big coolers, or perhaps a styrofoam one at a gas station for a few bucks that would work better. Some other things ive heard of people doing...

    I need some new music!

    Glad to share! I like to let it play new music for me while brewing/kicking back with a home brew. Its nice to discover new music you like, since it selects it based on your certain type of sound your looking for.

    I agree! Cant let the kids sleep in the bed. My 3 year old daughter wants to probably 3 times a week, gotta tell her no :) Also, screw sleeping on the couch when SHE is pissed! I never have done that, ive slept next to a pissed off wife many times :)

    Ahtanum, hmm, o dont see that on the hop chart, but a search revealed this from http://www.brew365.com : "Ahtanum is an aroma/flavoring hop variety that is similar to Cascade or Amarillo. It has a citrus and floral character much like cascade with the addition of some piney or earth notes...

    I will keep this one in mind. I think its going to be a battle brewing classic brews while avoiding cascade, an IPA without cascade?
