    Ruined batch?

I didn't taste anything that made me think there was a problem. I know at mash temps it's okay, but the boiling temps make me worry a little.

    Ruined batch?

Not a new brewer but figured I could get my answer here quickest. I use a homemade hop spider that uses a 3" to 2" cpvc reducer. It fell into my boil last night. It could have been in there for up to 20 minutes based on when I checked the kettle. Should I dismiss the beer in fear of chemical...

    Water cooler Wort chiller/jockey box

Since time and money were an issue in acquiring a coil of stainless, I went ahead and just bought copper and a waterpump to make an immersion chiller right now. I have a wash tub that I have used for ice baths in the past when i brewed mini-mash recipes, so this was the easiest, most cost...

    4x19 Stainless Steel Drip Tray

I am waiting on a pm back from the "first responder" - if they back out first thread response will have the option to buy. This is not damaged in any way and is still in the platic wrap it was delivered in - just can't use it for my setup.

    4x19 Stainless Steel Drip Tray

I originally bought this when I had plans to have towers on my Keezer, I went w/ a front mount instead, and this is too large and heavy for me to use. You can see the price I bought it for in the link below. I will send it out for $20 shipped or would be interested in a swap of a wall mount...

    Water cooler Wort chiller/jockey box

So using copper for a counterflow chiller is bad? Can you point me in the right direction for some reading info?

    Water cooler Wort chiller/jockey box

This summer I started kegging and converted to whole grain. My original mlt was a converted water cooler, but only 5 gallons. I upgraded quickly to a chest cooler b/c there just wasn't enough room to brew some recipes in 5 gallons. I also have used a counterflow wort chiller, but I bought it...

    Cider Serving Container

Haven't figured out all the logistics yet, I'm just pricing and reading at this point... Also found a different size/shape bottling bucket that I may build some sort of container for.

    Cider Serving Container

I guess I should have been a little clearer. I only have room for 2 kegs and gas in my keezer. Adding another keg/gas setup isn't possible right now. I am looking into converting an old smaller wine barrel/cask into a serving container, a la desktop whiskey barrel style.

    Cider Serving Container

For the past couple years I have made some hard apple cider and used my bottling bucket as a "serving container" to make snake bites with it. It sits in a closet in the basement not seen, but easily accessible. I had previously bottled it, but ran into a few exploding bottles and decided I'd...

    Leaking shanks

Thanks for the response gator but that is not what I'm talking about. My problem is where the shank and barb meet. I've purchased 4 new o-rings, lubes them up and hoping for some time this evening to put everything back together. The old o-rings were nasty and brittle, I am sure that was my...

    Leaking shanks

I have also heard KY Jelly is an okay substitute for keg lube, and somehow easier to find in stores... Thanks for all the info guys, hoping once I get home from work I apply some lubricant and have me a draft of AHB 20th Anniversary Kolsch

    Leaking shanks

Thanks for the quick reply - just wet them w/ water, some other liquid?

    Leaking shanks

Just completed my keezer build, I hooked the beer lines up to the taps (bought taps and shanks used) and faucets didn't leak, but where the beer line goes into the shank in the back did. I don't know if the o-rings are bad, or if they need to be lubricated somehow? I searched and found nothing...

    Grain Bill question

I used beersmith to come up with this original recipe when I did the gallon batch on the 21 day trial. I guess I should just purchase the software and do it the right way. W/out grabbing my book, here is the recipe for the 1 gallon batch... Mash at 155 degrees for 50 minutes 1.5 lb of...

    Grain Bill question

I experimented w/ my first "home made" recipe with a Red Wheat in a gallon batch, and it came out great. Now to do a 5.5 gallon batch I was just going to increase everything by 5 on the grain bill, but that puts me at 15 lbs. of grain. Am I thinking right about just multiplying, or is...
