    Infected GF beer?

I know, rack from underneath and drink asap. Smells fine...but this doesn't look like anything I've ever fermented before.

    Infected GF beer?

Hi guys. I made a gluten-free beer for my father-in-law. I was looking forward to bottling it today however it looks like it is infected. It was 2 1/2 gallons with sorghum syrup and 8 ounces of Quick oats. I've never broody gluten-free beer before and I've never had an infection before. How does...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Place something inert in the bag with the hops, like glass marbles. They will be heavy enough to drop the bag.

    Marginal Brew House Efficiency

I see a lot of information here, but there is one thing that hasn't been addressed. That is your mash tun. Rectangular coolers typically have a lower efficiency than a taller pot. From several reputable sources (none of which I can link to), if you alter the mash tun, your efficiency will...

    Lemondrop and Mandarina Bavaria

I'm dumping a Vienna with saaz on this yeast cake when this is done. I enjoy experimenting with beer.

    Lemondrop and Mandarina Bavaria

Hi all, I have a mild request of sorts. I'm brewing a kolsch-ish style beer where I'll be using centennial, Lemondrop and Mandarina Bavaria hops. I already know that my flameout hops will be the lemon drop and the mandarina. My question is how far along should I hop with the centennial? I...

    Thinking about getting a Grainfather...

I would not necessarily skip the grainfather but I would look into brew in a bag. It's cheap and gets you into the all grain brewing circle. It's a very cheap investment instead of spending almost $1000 on the grainfather.

Best technique or time to add hops for flavor

During the last 10 minutes of the boil, then during flameout/whirlpool.

    Brown sugar flavors

I'm not worried about oxidation. My technique is good enough to the point where this is not an issue. But the real test will be in another 7 days when I crack a bottle open.

    Bottling early?

I've had yeast finish fermenting in 5 days. I've also had yeast take almost 3 full weeks to fully ferment a wort. Check your gravity against the attenuation of the yeast is that you're using. That will get you pretty darn close to what you're shooting for. Most* ale yeasts, as long as...

    Brown sugar flavors

I made an oatmeal chocolate stout. 9# maris otter 1# quick oats 10 oz pale chocolate malt 4 oz roasted barley 4 oz chocolate malt My gravity, for a 5 gallon batch ended up around 1.054. Since I was shooting for something around 1.062, I added 1# of a brown sugar syrup I made to my...

Milky/cloudy Pils after fermentation & carbing.

Hit it with gel. The first 2-3 pints will pour off looking like Mississippi mud but the rest will be crystal clear. I usually allow my gel to work for a week before pouring my first pint. But if you don't mind waiting, 2 weeks is better.
