    Bottle sanitation

Sounds like a plan. Steer away from boiling or heating the caps. I've read that it can break down the plastic liner. A good soak and drain should do it. :mug:

    Bottle sanitation

Do you have to sanitize the pegs or will the wet sanitized bottle be enough?

    Bottle sanitation

I've seen those diy racks too and been very tempted to build one. Since wood is porous isn't there a risk of contamination?

Foamy top on fermenting batch....GOOD or BAD

I have my first batch in the carboy. I wish I had known how to do this when I was a kid. Coolest science experiment ever. I thought the glass carboy made a huge difference. All the things I had read about and didn't quite get were crystal clear (no pun intended). Plus, like you, I would...

Tubing size for 6.5 g glass carboy

Tried your blow test, and it held up fine. The only thing I can see that dislodges it is movement of the hose. Thanks.

Tubing size for 6.5 g glass carboy

I never could find a blow off tube that fit my 6.5 gallon carboy. Since my first batch will be a hefe, I don't want to risk going without one. Here's what I came up with: I cut the inside of a universal carboy bung out and pushed the blowoff tube into that. Then seated this in the...

    First Label

Should be putting together my first batch next week and I'm trying to get the labels ready ahead of time. Any suggestions on how to improve these? http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc297/engine3lt/Engine1PaleAle.jpg http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc297/engine3lt/Engine3Weizen.jpg...

    Most overrated high priced beers

Funny what restaurants consider "imports". I was in Charleston SC last summer and one of the restaurants there had Iron City beer on their import list. When I was younger we considered it one step below Natural Light or Busch Light. The Shiner Bock to me is very overrated. You can pick it...

Tubing size for 6.5 g glass carboy

Wish that was the case here. Really fits the 6g great but you can see air around the tube in the 6.5.

Tubing size for 6.5 g glass carboy

First time poster. I am getting my equipment ready for my first batch (or two). I went out this morning and picked up some tubing to make blowoff tubes for my fermenters. Of course when I got home the 1.25OD tubing didn't fit the 6.5 g glass carboy I have. It fit the 6 g size like a...
