    Welch's Grape Juice Wine

I made a variant one month ago. Overshot of at 1.130, finished at 1.024. Used s04 because i had it onhand. Has quite the alcohol burn lol...

What is your favorite kit? (Extract or mini mash)

The very first batch I ever brewed was from a Brewers Best American Amber Ale kit. I will brew it again, but haven't yet. It's a fantastic, malty beer with a very balanced hop. The only reason I haven't brewed it again (been at this for 5 weeks) is because I found this place, and the recipe...

    Different types of Extract

I'm new to this, too, but I've made a few single malt/single hop brews (even really light on hops) just so I can taste the differences. And I'm still an extract brewer. The light malt is 1) light in color, and alittle sweeter/cleaner in flavor. There are no caramel notes. On the flipside...

    Add DME, sticks to bag!

So simple... why didn't I think of that... :) Thanks! Man I'm sure you're sick of this winter. Where I'm at it hasn't been bad, but all that changes 2 hrs north into NJ. They have a few feet of snow sitting on the ground, and I'm sure you have them beat. I have been considering...

    Add DME, sticks to bag!

I can't be the only person feeling like he's wasting DME due to it sticking to the bag when I goto dump it into the boil pot. I remove the pot from heat, pour it in as fast as I can (while stirring), but a bunch of it always sticks to the mouth of the bag (due to steam). Not a huge deal...

First crack at my own recipe.

Shdwboy, I'm not fond of OMGHOPSLOL, so I understand trying to go light on it. That said, you're using an aroma hop (not great for bittering, mostly for aroma [smell, alt flavors]), which usually means you want more, and possibly, more additions of it. I would even venture to say 1oz @ 60 and...

American Amber Ale Fat Sam Amber Ale

I literally, 20 minutes ago, got done putting this in the primary. I have not gone to AG yet, so I did a partial (or steeped - not sure, but feel free to correct me so I know). I got 1lb of biscuit malt and 1lb of crystal 60L, crushed, and put them in at 155° for 45 minutes. Topped of...

    Any eastern shore brewers?

I'm in the "wrong" forum, but there's little activity there, so thought I'd try here. I'm just south of Dover, DE in Kent County DE. Close enough, eh?

    Pear Cider turned to Gelatin!

Holy mother of sweet baby Jesus... LOL! If I didn't know better, I'd say you had some sort of culture growing in there! And not just your yeast!

    Bottled during fermentation...

Just posting because someday this maybe semi-valuable to somebody else (or me if I need a reference). When I bottled this cider from the carboy, a bubble was coming thru the airlock ever 15 seconds or so. I had done nothing to stop or slow the fermentation. SG was at 1.015 when bottled. It's...

    Cellar Pictures

I never considered just sitting on them like you guys are. I guess I have to change my ways. That said, until I started this new hobby (merely 4 and a half weeks ago) I didn't realize that beer ages so well. I love those wooden 12oz beer racks a page or two back. I think I have a new weekend...

    Southern Delaware Brewers?

I'm in Felton. I plan on brewing/filling fermenters/carboys twice per month :) Friendly, always open to meeting new people and inciting new friendships. BTW, Dover Home Brew has a brew club that meets 1 Thursday per month. I haven't joined because my job has me traveling most every week...

Easy Stove-Top Pasteurizing - With Pics

Just for clarity, the water bottle I'm using is one of the thick Aquafina bottles that you can get out of a vending machine. So I think (hope) I'm covered in that arena. I did not, however, pop a dent into the top. But it hasn't gotten noticeably "harder" in awhile, so I'm going to let the...

Stove Top Entire Batch--> Back in Carboy --> Keg/Co2 --> Beer Gun

Aren't you worried about oxidation with all that transference?

    Bottled during fermentation...

LOL I already loaded the dishwasher. Just waiting for the soda bottle to get pretty hard, then I'm runnin' that sucker! Thanks for the response. There was no way I was going to bed with these things pressurizing like this.

    Bottled during fermentation...

I have been lurking this forum for the past 2 months, brewed my first batch of beer 4.5 weeks ago (just drank my first few a couple days ago), and 1 week after I started my American Amber Ale, I started this cider. This place is a gold mine of information, and is why I decided to try to...

    New Homebrew supply in Dover

I've been in there every weekend for the past 5 weeks or so. I just started out, in fact, got my kit from DHBS. Cliff has been very accessible, always has great opinions and input to my requests for suggestions, and is friendly to boot. The store has everything I've needed. Glad to have...
