    Full boil or 2.5 gal?

How are you cooling down your 5 gallons of wort at the end? Honestly- if you're using an extract kit that calls for 2 1/2 gallon boil- i'd do that and take advantage of the cooldown you get from the extra water you put into the carboy to top off. If you are using all grain, well then I...

Is my beer ready to bottle?

I agree but if my 'primary' was farting every 15 seconds 3 weeks in, im thinking something aint right 100% somewhere. I guess different yeasts or wrong yeasts non ale for ale might be a factor- 1 bubble per 15 seconds and my beer is still fermenting 1 bubble per 90 seconds, different...

    Room temp question

When I read that I got scared - thinking you made your wort- and tossed it in the fridge and went on vacation - and are coming home to pitch the yeast and make some beer... then I re- read it ... got more confused- and looked it up-...

Newbie needs help, brew advice, Q and A talk.

I love reading your replies. They make my day :) I agree. No secondary needed unless something really crazy needs to happen. Like you NEED to rack that blonde on 10 lbs of peaches or strawberries. I always though that when the beer company gives you 2 carboys- one 6 gallon and...

    Hello, few newbie questions

thats not even the point! How about what just goes around the freezer environment? My kids hands are in there... my wife ... another story. I have a nice gigantic filtered water- ice system- and even still... not worth it. You're better off waiting an extra 20 minutes and cooling it down...

    Shipyard Brewery...you're dead to me

I got the initial humor from the thread. I sorta feel the same way. Im not going to buy a bottle of beer that I cannot recycle into my own bottles for beer. Just makes more sense. So a ban or banish that company. Kinda like Bluepoint Brewery on Long Island. I think the beer is GREAT. But...

    Post-fermentation steps for newbies

I disagree! Bottling beer I find to be very therapeutic. Cleaning them, scrubbing them, delabeling, (ok maybe not that part) soaking- rinsing- sanitizing- and racking right into the foam. Its not for everybody but I want to go into my pantry and pull out a six of this or that, or a...
