Since that is your preference, BIAB is a great way to brew.

I use 8 oz Maltodextrin. Works like a charm!

The reason I don't brew BIAB is because I want to brew like the pros do. Never heard of a commercial BIAB brewery. Other than that, BIAB is a perfectly fine way to brew. (Now, watch there be a hole list of examples posted of BIAB breweries! LOL!)

I probably exaggerate when I say only $50. But, I used a lot of stuff I already had, so that counts as free, right? I already had the dorm fridge, wood framing, casters, foam spray, silicone caulk and screws! The only things I had to buy were the cheap temp controller from Ebay & some 2"...

I don't know if it's capable of 2-point calibration. But, since I am using mine for a fermentation chamber, I will calibrate it at 0. Thanks for the tip, OHIOSTEVE!

I did the same thing 2 months ago. Ordered it from ebay without anything to use it with! I finally wired it up last week and now I'm in the process of building a fermentation chamber. :mug:

I got my controller built this weekend. I plugged it in and tested it with the default settings. It's working perfectly! However, it was late and my brain wasn't working. I wasn't able to easily figure out how to change the settings. Can anyone give me a quick tutorial on what you press on...

The plastic is not supposed to go into the boiling wort. It is supposed to be hanging above the wort. Only the nylon mesh bag goes into the wort.

In the case of extract brewing, I would only use a wooden spoon during the boil. That is for the sake of sanitation. You might be alright, but I suggest you try to pickup a plastic spoon at your local homebrew store before you brew. After you chill your wort and pitch the yeast, you will need...
