    How Much Water?

Thanks all. Yep- I'll measure out my water per the Trout's rec and sparge a bit over a colander.

    First BIAB

I'm trying to make a 5 gallon batch of IPA with an 8 gallon pot. BeerSmith calls for 8.5 gallons of H2O. How do I add water to make up the difference? My grain bill consists of 11 lbs. of Two Row and 1 lb. of Crystal 40 with 5 oz of hops throughout the boil. Thanks in advance for any input.

    How Much Water?

Oh man- I just realized my pot only holds 8 gallons so I would need to start with 7. Do I just add more after mashing? If so, how much

    How Much Water?

Cool- thanks. I just downloaded the trial version of BeerSmith and it's telling me 8.55 gallons, so I'll go with 8 1/2.

    How Much Water?

How much water should I brew with? I'm doing a full boil. My grain bill for my IPA is 11 lb. of Two Row and 1 pound of Crystal 40 with about 5 total ounces of hops added during the boil. No sparging, just straight BIAB. 5 gallon batch. Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Also, I've got Carafoam on hand. Is there any benefit to adding it to this recipe?

    Whaddayathink Of This Recipe?

Thanks all! I'm thinking of going with Yooper's suggestion for the hop schedule, as I'm worried that my recipe might be a bit of a palate wrecker for the significant other. I'll also likely drop the Crystal 40 to 1/2 lb. and only add one whirlfloc tab. I'm thinking of dryhopping with 2 oz of...

    Recipe Recommendation

Hi all. Does anyone have a recommendation for my first all grain batch? I've been gifted some grains- 2 Row and Crystal 40. I'd like to create a fairly big IPA and was thinking of using 11# of 2 Row and 2# of Crystal 40. What hop combinations (including boil times) would you recommend? I'm...
