My beers all taste the same.

I struggled with identifying the ingredient (welcome or unwelcome) that was contributing to an off flavor in the aftertaste. I described it as sort of a "green" flavor that never mellowed out. After about 5 batches I abandoned the yeast I was using for a different brand, the flavor has gone...

    Hot water in carboy?

If it's a "made for brewing" plastic carboy, then I doubt there's any harmful chems in it. Does it smell bad? The only thing I can think of is that it might have compromised it's ability to keep oxygen out, but if you just use it for a primary and transfer it to something else for secondary, I...

    New need tips.

If your going to just brew one beer at a time (not start another until you've bottled the current one), then I think a single glass carboy is fine. If you wish to apply secondary fermentation to your recipe, just siphon it out into a sanitized bucket, clean your carboy out, and siphon it back...

Have we talked about this yet?

So Oktoberfest is pretty much my "Beer Christmas" and it's almost over. It should be declared as an official part, and maybe even the beginning, of the Holiday Season. So with that in mind, what is your favorite Oktoberfest this year? I would say that my top 3 would be: 1. Warsteiner 2...

    Name Your Micro

Avery is my favorite. However I'm hooked on Dale's Pale Ale by Oskar Blues.

Anyone know of anything to drink in Branson?

Wwwwweeeeeellllllllllll.... Before you go and cancel your trip down to old-folk-ville, I would like to try and counter my right honorable fella's before me that so kindly spoke of Branson. I currently live here in the little ozark town known for it's small production show business and not so...

What's your favorite "big" commercial beer?

How about the Avery Demon series? They certainly qualify for this category. I am especially partial to the Grand Cru Ale known as "The Beast", reminds me of a well aged mead.

Maybe the worst ever..... (label removal)

Hey mdwmonster, I'm in Missouri also, and I have to agree with you on the Schlafly and Sam Adams. I never buy store bought anymore but if I do, it's always SA or Schlafly. I have to give Schlafly some props on the Oatmeal stout and the APA. I've scrubbed a lot of bottles and nothing has come...
