    Copper Wort chiller leak

It should be a compression fitting where the hose connects? If so Remove the fitting, cut the tube below the leak and put the fitting back on.

Beer backflow into CO2 bottle :-(

Since the tank is empty you should be able to just exchange for a full one. Typically your Co2 tank will always have more pressure than the keg so no added valves are needed under "normal' conditions

    Making a Wort Chiller

Yes Doc you don't want them touching. The more surface in contact with Wort the better. mine has about 1/2" between individual coils and about 1" between inside and outside coils.

    Making a Wort Chiller

Doc, you can use whatever fits your pot. Stronly suggest the double with 50' so you can keep the coils high where they do the most good. Hez you can straighten it if you are VERY carefull not to kink. Once it is semi straight you can anchor one end and pull the other end with a come along and...

    Making a Wort Chiller

I recently purchased 50' of 1/2" soft copper (refrigerant pipe) for about $40.00. I rolled it around a soda keg till half was used, wrapped it with some towels then rolled it back up for a double coil. some videos out there. You can leave it coiled tight for 5 gallon and spread the coils out...

    RaceTrack keg conversion

I have one borrowed Racetrack keg with Pinlock posts, all of my others are Ball lock. Anyone know if where to find Ball Lock posts that will match the threads on these kegs?

immersion vs. plate chiller - I've only ever used immersion

regarding stirring. If an immersion chiller is coiled so that almost all tube is in the upper part of the wort that is where the hottest liquid is if not stirred. My thinking is that the greater the temperature differential between the cold coil and hot wort the more efficient the heat transfer...

wort chilling with 85 degree groundwater

My ground water is closer to 60 degrees but with a 50 X 3/8" immersion coil it slows cooling at a wort temp of about 80 and almost stalls at 72 on 10 gallons. I have an electric drinking fountain chiller that I will try as a pre-cooler on the next batch. It will only be used after the wort is...

New way to control Pellet Hop gunk!

Mr Sam, I like that but was hoping to use I screen for both Kettle and Fermenter..

New way to control Pellet Hop gunk!

Too many pages to read them all so this may be redundant. I want to use this in the Boil but also in the Conical for dry hop. The brackets shown for hanging on the side of the kettle are too thick to use between the lid seals on the fermenter. Has anyone considered one with a closable lid that...

SS BrewTech Brew Bucket Conical Fermenter

Congrats Freddy. Be sure to give the valves a good clean both open and closed. Also for harvesting yeast I have found it easiest to put the 1.5" X 0.5" barb on the dump valve with a 4" piece of clear tube. With the valve handle closed in the vertical up position you will draw off the bottom of...

    How to dry hop?

I am dry hopping for the 1st time. No luck with searches here but did see videos showing pouring direct into the secondary and one showing a sanitized hop bag. I will be adding 4 oz Centennial pellets to 11 gallons in a SS Conical. I can pour direct thru the 1.5 Triclamp for the vent or lift the...

    Hop Basket

Thats what I did yesterday but I would rather have a SS screen with a weighted bottom. Best case is just under 1.5" dia so I can drop it thru my fermenter lid vent for dry hopping with out removing the lid.

    Hop Basket

Well I used them on a late addition about 1.1 Oz each in 2 of them (almost filled 1/2) 5 minutes before the end of the boil. it swelled to fill the whole 3" ball but all the hops were wet and looked like a 3" ball. 1 Oz is about max. Need to find something else.

American IPA My 2-time gold winning American IPA

Will brew this for the 1st time tomorrow. The brew store was out of Cascade so I substituted Centennial. About $80 for a ten gallon batch but there will be a good amount of left over Hops

    Hop Basket

My next beer has some small additions late so I will use it for that as a test and let you know what happens

    Hop Basket

The package says Stainless but it also says China so who knows for sure. I thought the 3" would hold a lot of Hops but didn't consider the swelling keeping the center dry. I guess I need to use them for small additions first to see how it goes
