    Siphon tubing help...

It sat in star san and yeah it left a nasty looking film. I just got back from Lowes I figured better safe than sorry. I think it prolly would've been fine but let it sit for days with the dirty star san in it. If it was totally clean maybe not as big a deal.

    Siphon tubing help...

I used oxyclean and starsan...I prolly will buy new tubing but I was hoping I wouldn't have to. I won't ever let anything sit in my tubing again.

    Siphon tubing help...

Hey all, 3 weeks ago I brewed my second batch, a chocolate oatmeal stout. While I was cleaning I siphoned cleaner through my auto siphon and then I siphoned sanitizer through it and left it sitting in the bucket full of sanitizer with sanitizer in the tubing. When I cleaned up the sanitized...

    Brilliant clarity without cold crashing

One thing I think I did was aerate at a to high of a temp which causes oxidation and I think caused my first brew to be pretty cloudy...

O2 Results from my new O2 meter!

I would be interested in seeing what the spray aerator can do. My LHBS says that is what he uses and sells with his kits. I have used it for both my brews. However I really want to get more oxygen in I think it has to do with my weak fermentation.

    Slightly stirred kraussen

Ok, so cold crashing would probably help? I have been looking into that. I have the basic concept, but not a tried and true method. I am assuming I just put fermenter in a place that is very cold for a few days to allow sediment to fall. After I cold crash I would have to move fermenter back...

    Slightly stirred kraussen

Hey everyone, :mug: I am brewing my second batch. It is a 7% Oatmeal stout. After a couple days my fermentation slowed way down and the kraussen was sticking to the sides. So in my infinite wisdom I gave the fermenter a few good swirls. My intention was to suspend the yeast and get a little...

This picture is a great representation of how high the kraussen is rising in my my fermenter. I want it to touch the lid....

    Do darker beers ferment stronger

I just did my second attempt. An oatmeal stout. It started bubbling hard within 7 hours. and slowed waaaay down within 2-3 days. I am trying to figure out why Im not getting vigorous fermentation. Im guessing not a good enough aeration. Any thoughts?

    How is this recipe?

Hey you are right it is an IPA. The yeast is US-05. Idk exactly on the grains it was premixed by local brew shed. Next time I will pay attention and ask exactly what I am getting. Hops were as follows. 60 min Warrior 20 min Columbus 0 min Cascade and Galaxy and steep 20 mins before cooling...

    How is this recipe?

So I brewed this recipe and I am about to bottle in the morning. I wondered if anyone could offer me there opinions on how this recipe may taste if things turn out right. I am a new brewer just wondered what I could expect if anyone has done a similiar recipe. 2 3.3 lb cans Briess golden...

Forgot to strain hops from primary fermenter

I used my auto siphon with a spray aerator as my only means of aeration and filtration. What do you guys think?
