    Fifty Pound Sack

Thanks for the source! Comes to about $246 for 3 bags of Marris Otter - about $25 higher than Fifty Pound Sack was. LHBS is $202 with tax plus round trip gas and time - so about $220 total. That was the lure of Fifty Pound Sack - cost was the same as my LHBS but it was delivered to my doorstep.

    Slanting yeast

Yes 15 psi is the standard for pressure cookers and provides 250°F water for sterilization. Although true laboratory sterilization requires 270+ that type of equipment is very expensive. An autoclave for example uses up to 30 PSI steam which gives almost 280°.

    Fifty Pound Sack

I have yet to see an Amazon prime or nonprime offer that was good for sacks of grain. I will definitely check out the homebrewstuff.com offer as I have used them many times in the past for equipment

    Fifty Pound Sack

I am assuming your LHBS is close. Mine is about a 35 minute drive and is still hit or miss as to whether stuff will be in stock. I have tried prearranging my order with limited success. I figure the average for online sales is three 55 pound bags of weyerman bohemian Pilsner malt delivered to my...

    Fifty Pound Sack

anyone know what happened to them? The website is up but for months nothing is in stock... Can't sell grain if you don't stock grain... This sucks as they were my favorite go-to for Weyermann Bohemian Pilsner bags. Time to find another source...

A valve won't reduce pressure, it will only throttle flow. The pump will still produce full dead head pressure through a partially opened valve if there is a downstream obstruction.

Irish Stout Ode To Arthur, Irish Stout (Guinness Clone)

I apologize I screwed up using the calculator!!! Most beer gas is 75% nitrogen and 25% carbon dioxide. I entered the opposite into the calculator. Rough morning.... Correctly entered you would need a dispensing pressure of 85 psi to dispense yours properly. Wow - that would be one hell of a...

Irish Stout Ode To Arthur, Irish Stout (Guinness Clone)

So you put 2.3 vols of CO2 into a stout. That is a tad bit high. But with that level of CO2 and a 75/25 nitrogen mix in a 40F keezer you should set your beer gas to 18 psi (30 is way too high for that mix). Here is the McDantim calculator for this...

    ECY on love2brew.com right now!

The box would be A better option but this does not fix the issue where USPS takes five days for a two day delivery with no repercussions available… My most recent order took five days going from Maryland to North Carolina. No wonder USPS is losing money and needs to be bailed out constantly by...

The 35 gallon can be shipped UPS. My 60 gallon was shipped UPS but I'm not sure if they will do that anymore. You should pay no more than $200 with shipping on the 35 gallon.

    HDPE solera

If I were you I would keep looking. I paid 150 for my 35 gallon delivered and 190 for my 60 gallon delivered. Agrimart.net typically has the best deal. Rural king used to.

    Tart of Darkness

Exactly - they knock down the oak just like in wine production and bourbon production barrels that later become beer barrels. So my method is to reduce the cubes to the equivalent strength and then use them for the beer with the same contact time (usually full length 18 months after primary...

    Tart of Darkness

I attempted to simulate a true used bourbon barrel. To do this I boiled my brand new medium plus oak cubes to weaken them and remove the harsh tanins of new oak - this 10 minutes of boiling essentially turns them into used oak barrels. Then I soaked them in bourbon for 6 months in my garage...
