    Warning signs of homebrew addiction

SWMBO assumes any box thats left at the door is for you and automatically puts it in your brew space. You scoff at any bar or food joint that has a smaller beer selection than your keezer or beer fridge. You've learned or practiced more craftsman skills to support your addiction than to take...

Looking for a something with wheels

If costco isnt available to you, target has a lot of the same models, just a few bucks more, but still not badly priced at all. Theyve got the NSF ones.

I wanna make a beer with lime flavor added

I have a lime kolsch recipe that uses three limes worth of zest in the last 5 minutes of the boil. Could probably do the same with one of your canned kits.

    Show us your Kegerator

Thanks! It was the prefab sheets from home depot. Just cut and pieced them together and got lucky with the sizing because originally wasnt going to go the tile route. Didnt need to do any actual tile cutting at all. The freezer is a frigidaire 7.2 with a 2x10 collar and a home built lid. Best...

    brewing for a wedding

the difference between carbonation temp and serving temp won't be a problem as long as you carb at the right pressure. Since liquid absorbs carbonation at different rates depending on temp, you need to carbonate at a higher pressure. There are calculators on the Internet to figure it out...

Here is mine that I just finished up a month ago. Got a lot of inspiration and ideas from the forums here so thanks everyone!

The stupidest comment on your beer

Got a new one for me today (not sure if it was somewhere else in here): Gave a little sampler pack of what I've got on tap to an employee and his report on it was: "I was really surprised. I expected it to have a weird off flavor like waterbed water" After I responded with a confused WTF...

    BIAB Brewing (with pics)

The basket came with the pot and I dont personally have a big enough or sturdy enough colander. With the baking rack method, did you have any runoff/spill issues when squeezing or pressing the bag out?

    BIAB Brewing (with pics)

For those of you who don't have the option of setting up a pulley over your BIAB Kettle (Stovetop BIAB, Outdoor BIAB, Apartment Brewers who can't mount pulleys), If you don't mind lifting the pot the height it needs to be at, get a couple of stainless S hooks from a hardware store, and hook them...

Well now, thats just F'n cool

+1 for sure. It removed the only part of the process that i felt was like a chore. Cleaning, storing, collecting bottles, etc. It might not be for everyone but it sure took brewing from a hobby i tried out of curiosity to a passion i cant stop thinking about.

Fridges for fermenting in / cold crashing

29.5 inches inside top to bottom. Takes a modification of the ice tray and a few old books to fit it nicely on the shelf, but since the cooling element is right next to the carboy then instead of in the walls it is great for crashing.

Fridges for fermenting in / cold crashing

Also this fridge is a Magic chef mcbr 360 s and with a few mods it fits a 5 gallon bb, a standard brew bucket with blowoff hose or dry trap, or two cornies.

Fridges for fermenting in / cold crashing

BB dry-trap sits about half an inch over the stopper, vs 3.25 inches for the three piece and 5 inches for the double bubble. Blowoff would be just be the width of your hose.

Creative way of removing crimp on bottle caps

My usual go to bottle opener is my US Air Force Academy class ring. Really its the only value I can find out of the damn thing. The first time I went to use my wedding band in the same way I got enough daggers in the look from SWMBO to pin me against the wall. Reliable backups... Climbing...

Best draft list I've ever seen

World of Beer in Viera, FL is my local bar (7 minute drive). It has 40 on tap (can see whatever is currently there at www.wobviera.com) and over 500 bottles to choose from. They have a dozen taps or so that stay pretty much set, but twice a month they bring in a "featured" brewer with most of...

    Filtering - Worthwhile?

I would very strongly recommend trying the gelatin method. Heck of a lot cheaper than a wine filter and you can add it into your regular routine fairly easily. Follow Biermuncher's explanation here https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f13/gelatin-photos-35563/index2.html I've done it on my last 2...

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

Just to clarify, I (and i think at least a few of the others who put the strawberries in the primary) dont put the strawberries in right from the start, I add them after the first 4-5 days once the yeast has done its heavy lifting and is starting to clean up and settle. I pop off the lid, throw...

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

For those who have commented on the lack of clarity in this one, i used the knox geletin method mentioned in other threads and it worked perfectly and was super easy. My first batch i tried secondary, cold crashing, and kc finings. All three didnt clear it up half as well as a week with gel.

    How did you find us?

Google! I use it as my main method of searching and after the first three questions i had all came up with threads from here for answers, i decided to skip the middle man. Once i found the DIY area i knew it was love...

    double pitching and a starter?

Theres two parts about this that dont sit quite right for me. With my degree in biology i know how this stuff is supposed to work in theory, but the first thing that you learn in a bio course is that everything depends and nothing follows the textbooks in nature. Im new to the brewing, so if...
