Lager under-pressure - still no sign of activity. How long?

Ok... I just wanted to make sure there was no major mistake in the process... putting the spunding valve on right away at this temperature is okay in this case...? thank you :-)

Lager under-pressure - still no sign of activity. How long?

Hi everyone, I'm getting a bit worried because I brewed what I want to be a lager yesterday, and it's been close to 16h since I pitched, and I see no signs of activity yet. I cooled down the wort to approx 21C, transferred to my fermenter, shook it well, then pitched the yeast. It's a lager...

Spunding Valve... not very convenient setup

Confirming that tape quantity and elbow grease can make it work!

Spunding Valve... not very convenient setup

Dealing with pressure, I'm sure we can't be "loose". This is how tight as I can get it, but doesn't look right. What's TC?

Spunding Valve... not very convenient setup

I have basically half a turn I'd like to change... How much more tape? Can it really have an effect? I'm not sure how it can affect the thread

    That's not too bad ;-)

Spunding Valve... not very convenient setup

Hi everyone, If I tighten everything pretty well, this is how my spunding valve looks like... I've tried playing around, but can't seem to get it to "look" right. Is there a way to make it look "straight" or not? I can't find a way to make my gauge face up! Haha.

Fermenting Under pressure to finish off faster?

In regards to your natural carbonation, I meant. In this case do you use a spunding valve, and ferment in what kind of vessel?

Fermenting Under pressure to finish off faster?

Pressure fermenting the Dupont saison yeast then, with presence of the "wanted" esters?

Fermenting Under pressure to finish off faster?

There seems to be a consensus that fermenting under pressure does not make fermentation faster unless we bring the vessel to a higher temperature environment. Got it then, thank you

Fermenting Under pressure to finish off faster?

Hahaha. Esther, for sure! ;-) ( tbh I don't know this reference, but you made me laugh^^)

Fermenting Under pressure to finish off faster?

By raising the temp you'd mean to put it in some sort of hot chamber I assume? But indeed, saison needs its esthers...

Fermenting Under pressure to finish off faster?

Hi all, My beer has been fermenting for 1 week. No more blow-off tube activity "bubbles". OG was 1.050 and Just took gravity readings : 1.020 with the hydrometer. Next, it's a Saison yeast, so active at higher temp but it stays in a 22-23C environment, so it should be enough for it I believe...

CO2 Tank Refill in Vancouver, BC, Canada?

Same, Went there! I think they're the cheapest in the area. Question, reliving the thread - For the local Vancouver brewers : Is there a place where you can trade/exchange a steel CO2 tank for an aluminum one?

How much pressure can fermentation build up?

So you mean I could have left the keg closed without blowoff tube, and still be okay? Using a sounding valve at a low control (how much?) would reduce Krausen? So if you want to dry hop, you mean you already have your hops stuck on a magnet, but not in the wort, inside the fermenter? What If...

BIAB with a Keggle - 3rd batch and still LOW efficiency

I like this idea. would be a bit more work obviously, and need more material,to fit my 30L+ of first runnings. Then basically batch sparge... I could definitely try this. Oh yeah. Big squeeze, I spend quite a bite of time after the sparge and until the boil arrives pressing the bag as much as...

How much pressure can fermentation build up?

Funny... I was looking also to see how much pressure could primary fermentation build, as I wanted to know also how much pressure could a keg tolerate. And I fell onto this post. I was starting to read about pressure fermenting today, spunding valve... Controlling pressure to be released for 15...

BIAB with a Keggle - 3rd batch and still LOW efficiency

Makes sense Doug. i did not bother to express the volumes because I followed the exact same protocol as before. Strike water to start at mash-in was 30L. Mashed in at 71C and mash help a temperature around 64-65C. Added 3L during the mash. Sparged with 14L of hot water, fly sparged. I can...

BIAB with a Keggle - 3rd batch and still LOW efficiency

Hey Everyone, I am re-opening this thread as I just did my 4th batch. And guess what? I'm still frustrated. I asked my grain supplier if I could get a double mill or a finer crush, but his answer was negative. We discussed it, and well, as knowledgeable as he may seem, he simply told me my...
