How to build a control panel (part 1)

I did step bit for my 22mm holes, wish I had known about the 1/2" conduit. Oh well. All is good. Barry

    DIY Exhaust Hood Help

I had been thinking of making a wood vent box and putting plastic shower/bath wall panels on both sides. Should look and work fine. Barry

    Where should holes be?

Personally I have been laughing my butt off. My questions was a hard one to answer because of the variables involved and I knew that going in. I was just wanting to get some feedback and I loved the answers I got. Thanks all Barry

    Where should holes be?

I did write them, just looking everywhere. I will be doing 5 and 10 gallon batches and the level will be to great to adjust. Just trying to measure twice and cut once. I do also have the Greenlee 13/16's punch so no problem there. Barry

WoW. Really have to read your topic aloud to yourself several times before hitting submit.

    Where should holes be?

I about ready to punch holes in my Blichmann 20 gal MT for my autosparge. I will be doing 5 and 10 gallon batches. What would the normal amount of water be in the MT for these amounts giving a couple of inches of water on top of the grain bed? And at what level should I punch the holes? Barry

Too much gap? Element punchout hole

Yes those punches are designed to punch holes for conduit. The size listed is for conduit listed at that size, the hole is actually bigger than that. Greenlee makes punches for conduit and actual size holes. You have to be careful and get the correct ones. Barry

    Tips for coiling stainless

I ruined my SS coil so I had planned on buying the SS immersion chiller from Midwest Brewing Supplies and cutting that and fitting it in. Since it is only 10" in diameter I thought it would be perfect. But alas, they are out of stock and not expecting any until March. I went ahead and bought...

    electric equipment start up costs

I have yet to add up the total but I did go through Kal's list one day and counted up everything but one Blichmann kettle and the brew stand and a few odds and ends that I already had I came up with about $3900+. And my SWMBO does not even like beer. Barry

    electric equipment start up costs

I went the lazy way. I just went down Kal's list and ordered everything through his links. All except for one converted yet still unused keggle that I had gotten from Sabco about 4 years ago. I am using that as my HLT. I also just bought a 60" sink base with 72" counter top from Loews...

Can't wait for the deliveries to start

Got my 2 Blingman 20 gal pots delivered this morning. On Wednesday, I got my control panel box and have been receiving multiple packages every day. I need to stop at the HD and pick up some 10/3 wire and can start punching holes in the Blingmans for the heating elements and the converted keg I...

Can't wait for the deliveries to start

Saturday my 5500w elements arrived. I picked up a 60" unfinished sink base at Lowe's with a 6' counter top. Also picked up some odds and ends to start running the 50amp run to the man cave. I also ordered most of the rest of the stuff I will need to finish my set up. Have not been this...

Can't wait for the deliveries to start

A few packages in the mail yesterday. Got my pids, ssrs and rtd's yesterday along with a few other odds and ends. Although I do appreciate their looking out for me, my credit card company put a freeze on my account when I purchased so much stuff so it took me a few calls and had to get Norther...

Can't wait for the deliveries to start

Today I started ordering my parts to basically copy Kal's Electric Brewery. I figure why try and reinvent the wheel. I ordered two 20 gallon Blichmanns, I will use a converted keg I have from sabeco as an HLT. I also ordered everything to get the kettles set up with Herms and such. I...

Lesson learned about using spent grains for mulch

I give my spent grains to my horses. I may put some in piles out in the yard, we have a herd of about 20 Mule deer constantly hanging around the house.

    Question on upsizing recipes.

I used Pro Mash years ago and it did have that feature but I never paid enough attention to it to tell if it just doubled or what. I now have Beer Alchemy for my mac at home but have not played with it enough to see if that feature was included.
