Eventually I am thinking I will do 2.5 gal with 1 gal every now and then. Have been thinking about the Anvil Foundry 6.5 and the Anvil 4 gal SS fermenter. But I want to learn more before I take that step .. have fun with what I have.
Do you brew larger than 1 gal as well? I think I remember...
Now that's interesting... will check that out. Another thing, I have green carboys instead of the clear... hard to see in them... so ordered some clear ones. Also, it seems I net 7 pints out of every gallon batch
Ok thanks guys. I did the suggestions offered above and will begin bottling soon. Seems like a good wood working project would to be to make a little tilt stand :)
I'm due to bottle a one gallon batch soon... right from primary carboy. Last time I did this I tried to tilt the carboy to create a well.. I'm thinking i disturbed the sediment more to my liking and some went to the bottle. Do you guys create a well also.... or not?
yep that's what I'm thinking. lol... so funny being a newbie.. all these concerns/questions haha. it really hard to wait... to see how these bottles turn out!
Well I looked at each bottle and the disturbance caused them to disappear. I would think a small ring would be normal... sediment at bottom and little stuff at top just like in your fermenters. At least I hope!!
Looking at the hefe I bottled 3 days ago... along with a little bit of sediment on the bottom... I now see a small white ring has developed on the surface of the beer. I am reusing green grolsch bottles.. so it is easier to see inside than regular brown bottles. Is this normal? Thanks!
I removed the wire baskets (right term?) and gaskets because they would not fit on my drying rack with them on. And I figure it would help with cleaning as well. I do have a rinser (yellow kind) somewhat like you posted. I bought some stuff used and this was pretty much given to me. But I dont...
Yes i removed the wire stoppers and gaskets for sanitization. So had to reassemble ... and the fizz drops were a pain. I made sure I disinfected my hands but with it all... its concerning as it first batch at it all. If infection shows its ugly head will drink it fast!!
Well it will be very interesting. It was a 1 gallon batch... bottled from primary after 13 days. I'm well on way learning from mistakes lol. I used grolsch flip tops and the fizz drops ... had to force into bottle... tight fit. And figuring out how to reattach the wire flip top thingies... must...
I just bottled my first ever brew. A Bavarian Hefe. The last bit that wouldnt fill a bottle have it a taste. The beer color and smell looks good. The taste... well not sure.. a bit of a grapefruit or acidic finish. Is this typical for a young beer? Also, should I bottle condition at 70 orm76F...
So I take it the basket is bit coarse and allows more particles in wort? I dont see needing to use a biab in malt pipe being too big of a deal if it helps though. I bet all these "all in ones" similar
Sounds like we are on same path on our journey lol. More to think about... the anvil 6.5 is definitely something to consider though at its price point. Gets me out of kitchen... kids already giving me eye rolls for taking over it most of morning haha
Yep perfect solution imo. Portable ... if you move or want to brew somewhere else. Just do not want to exceed certain length of extension cord due to resistance, making sure your unit is getting all 20amps that it needs to draw...
