Buying used spirits barrel near Central NJ

Hi, was wondering if anyone knows of a source near Central NJ to purchase a used bourbon or rum barrel in the 5 to 15 gallon range? I have heard some distillery’s sell them direct, but the only one I have found so far is Dad’s Hat in Pa Anyone know of any others. Thanks!

    SS Brewtech 14 gallon Unitank

Would have needed a whole new tank, the TC was welded on crooked. When I emailed back that I was was not satisfied with just bending the top of tank, I got no further reply. I suspect that American eyes never look at these....they are made and boxed up in China, then just warehoused and shipped...

    SS Brewtech 14 gallon Unitank

So, was really sitting on the fence, should I get another fermenter. Just for reference, I own a Stout 14 gallon, and a Brewers Hardware 15 gallon, non jacketed. I also work 1 day a week at a 25bbl brewery, so am familiar with both the homebrew, mand professional side. Seduced by a good price...

    Fermenter sizing question

One thing to consider is suck back during cold crashing. I routinely do 5 Gallon batches in a 15 gallon conical(BrewersHardware), but I pressurize with 2 lb CO2 to prevent this. Otherwise you will suck back ALOT of fluid if using a blowoff tube, or will suck in oxygen if using an airlock.

    New Unitank from SS Brewtech!

Been thinking of adding a fermenter myself. Am sceptical of the SS at this point. All the pics they show are NOT of the 14 gallon version, so no telling if it will be identical. I also emailed twice since last week asking for the thickness of the stainless, and pressure rating.......only 1...

    Temperature probe accuracy

Do not know if it makes a difference, but Rtd cable typically uses 22 to 24 gauge wire. Maybe the 12 to 14 gauge you are using could cause problems?

New Jersey Control Panel Switches and LED'S

Hi, have a large lot of new INDUSTRIAL switches and led's. These are Siemans brand, widely used in the commercial control industry. All are new, some in boxes, some mounted, but never used. Can make a killer big panel, or use what you need, and sell the rest! Last pic shows example of a similiar...

Brew Bucket by SS Brewing Technologies

I actually just finished a primary fermentation of a mead in the mini brew bucket. Worked really well for my purpose....filled it to the 3.5 gallon mark, let it ferment, took my gravity, then just gravity fed into a 3 gallon Carboy. You still need to secondary or more with a mead or wine, and...

    Stabilizing Top Heavy Conical

What's happining with this fermenter is the bulk of the weight is at the highest point, the lid assembly. It uses a 12" tri clamp cover, which is almost 1/2" thick, and weighs about 12 pounds by it self. Add the clamp and and all your other accessories, and you have close to 20 pounds at the...

    Stabilizing Top Heavy Conical

Was actually considering this fermenter, but figured it HAD to be top heavy with a 12" TC lid. Also was not crazy about the long thermowell on the top, rather than a TC fitting on the side. Could consider welding 3 TC ferrules to a plate , then just clamp to the bottom legs. Of course, this...

    Stainless Steel Tubing Types

Most often the polished, or sanitary, is used in beverage applications, along with tri-clamps. The welded I would not use at all....very rough on the inside, along the welded seam. Smooth bore would probably be ok. HOWEVER, you may want to look at pipe, instead of tubing, if you are using...
