My First Starter Blew It's Top...Still Good??

Hey guys, I decided to make a starter last night for the first time. Being the first time, I wasn't as prepared as I could have been and may have run into an issue. I boiled some extra light DME in 2 liters of water for about 15 minutes. When I cooled it and went to put it in a growler (I...

    Storing Empty Keg Lines

I don't like to leave starsan in my lines when I'm between kegs. I've left other plastic items in starsan for even just a couple hours one time and they ended up with a white film that King of Cascade mentioned. I've even left some metal swing tops in there for a couple hours and they ended up...

    Hello from Canada

Welcome! The south side Winning Wines (on 111st) is widely regarded as the best place in town to get ingredients if you're looking to start all grain. I haven't myself yet as I'm still doing the kits but that's where I go to get any advice and materials I need. I believe it's actually one of...

    Kegs

Checked that site out as I'm looking for some extras too. Shipping for 2 kegs to Edmonton with canada post was quoted at $32. I got my original kit (which included 2 kegs) from keg connection in the states. Good service and shipping was $60 with usps. So you could use them as a comparison.

Thought I'd post my keezer. Definitely not as fancy as a lot of them on here. I admire the craftsmanship of the HBT members! First kegged beer is a repeat of a wheat beer that I brewed as my very first batch. Hooked up for about a week and not quite ready but I tried some anyways! I used a...

What do you do when you have left over beer after racking to kegs.

I was in a similar situation recently. I was kegging for the first time but the kit I was using up here in Canada was 23 liters (5 english gallons or 6 US gallons) so I knew there was going to be some leftovers when I racked to the keg. The simplest solution would be to get the carb tabs...

    Brewhouse Kits

Glad to hear that you tried it just with the primary with the snap on lid and it turned out okay. I have been hesitant to try this as I wasn't sure how sanitary it would be for a longer period of time. I'd love to not transfer to a secondary but I can't make it past 10 days before I get too...

Agreed, looks great! Just finishing up my 5cf keezer as well. Just need to put the drip tray on but still working on how to do that. I like your method.

That's what I was thinking too. Once you get all the stuff on top decked out the way you want it, with all the taps and drip tray and stuff, it's probably not even going to be that noticeable or take away from anything.

Knotty Pine and Cedar Log Keezer Build

Awesome! I'm excited to see the progess. And even though you claim to have no skills, you got a heck of a lot more done in 4 hours than I ever would have. Congrats on the great start!

Can't get brew house bag open!

I've used 4 of these kits now and with the first one, when the cap finally did pop off I was splashed with a fair amount of wort from the jarring. With the next three I pulled the bag out of the box and snipped a corner off the bag and poured it in the bucket that way. I've read some...

Perlick Faucet Manufacturing Differences Okay? *Pic*

Oh man, what a beginner I am, lol. I looked at your post and thought, nah, I can't be that stupid.....turns out I am. Took a look again and sure enough the one on the right was loose and it turned right down and became flush just like the one on the left. Another rookie problem solved by...

Perlick Faucet Manufacturing Differences Okay? *Pic*

Exactly, I'm still not sure if I'll be able to stop thinking about it every time I go pour a beer. I looked up the business end and everything appears similar between the two in that regard.

Perlick Faucet Manufacturing Differences Okay? *Pic*

Okay, I'm not sure if this is a big deal or not but I wanted to ask the opinion of everyone here on HBT. I am dry fitting my 2 keg setup I purchased from keg connection to my keezer I'm almost finished building and I noticed that the 2 Perlick faucets I got (575SS) look different from each...

Best AVAILABLE mini fridge for corny kegs

Hmmm, just finishing up my keezer build but this still intrigues me. Think I definitely would have went this route if I saw it before christmas. Maybe I should get one anyways and use it for fermentation in case the old freezer I used for the keezer kicks it. :) Looks like there would be tons...

    What are you drinking now?

Just had a DFH 60 and a 90. *first off I just want to say I'm not really a huge hop fan to begin with. I really liked the 60. Could see myself drinking that more often if I could find it cheaper where I am. And I'm not a huge fan of the 90. I could really smell the alcohol (almost like...
