Burping Conical Fermenter w/CO2 During Dry Hopping

So I started to think and realized I could remove the 3/4" male QD fitting from the valve, then fit a 3/4 to 1/2 bushing/reducer into the valve and put a 1/2" to 1/4" flare fitting on there to mate directly to the gas line. It all came together nicely. Burping was uneventful and I didn't get...

    True TDD-2 Kegerator remodel/touchup

Very likely those wires feed the fan and the light. On mine they were joined with some wiring nuts and strapped down to the topside of the fan mounting plate. You probably don't want to cut those. Here are some shots of what my wiring looked like. And yes, I replaced those hoses, as ridiculously...

Burping Conical Fermenter w/CO2 During Dry Hopping

I've done this by inserting a co2 wand thru the top but I like the idea of doing it thru the dump valve. Could you share what parts you're using to connect co2 to your dump valve? I'm asking because that's a 3/4" QD so it's an unusual fitting in my brewery. I started doing this because...

    True TDD-2 Kegerator remodel/touchup

Yeah, I hate working on these things. You just yanked and jimmy and inch those tubes right outta there. The screws are a bitch. I bought a hex nut bit for my drill but I also needed a hand tool to access some of those screws. For what it's worth, you probably only need to replace that bottom...

What I did for beer today

Racked two carboys of Imperial Stout to secondary for bulk aging at 65. One was at 1017 and the other at 1022. Go figure. Maybe I didn't swirl the yeast enough to get an equal pitch. Anyway the 1017 is borderline dumpable. The 1022 is just okay but way more dry than I'd like for this stage. At...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

SWMBO has been upset about how much time I've been spending brewing on the weekends recently (playing catch-up after taking almost the whole summer off from brewing)... So I'll brew Friday instead :) I've got this sweet little straight ahead mid-west style IPA in mind (think Bell's Two-Hearted...

Simpson's Golden Promise In An IPA - Anyone Done It?

I've got a NEIPA with base 50/50 grains of 2-Row and Golden Promise fermenting right now. First time I'm using it. But all the cool kids are doing it, so I'm in. I'll let you know how it works out but with more than 24 ozs of hops in the 11G batch I think I'm gonna like it :)

What I did for beer today

A week ago I looked at brewing plans for the fall/winter and decided to buy some leaf hops in bulk. Now this rarely happens to me but as I was looking at Hops Direct and Yakima Valley they announced the 2016 release. So I ordered away, buying by the pound because it was clear I would use it all...

    True TDD-2 Kegerator remodel/touchup

Hah! I have to say that is a fine looking setup too. I love the stone. My plan is to build a bar around my kegerator too - I just haven't gotten there yet! The TDD-2 has a condenser vent on the back side of the unit. I plan to build in a vent in the bar structure so as not to block that airflow.

    True TDD-2 Kegerator remodel/touchup

Thanks - and BTW could you share that web site and maybe the part number where you saw that $163 evap pan replacement? The only thing I've found is for $300!!!

    True TDD-2 Kegerator remodel/touchup

Okay, so that's clear now. What I can tell you from experience with my setup, which is identical. I removed that drain-pan and did a lot of work to patch the drain holes. It is now leaking again, so I'm just going to replace it - so I think you've got the right idea. Note: The drainpan...
