Do you guys clean your smoker?

I have used my pellet cooker/smoker for the past 5+ years. I do very little cleaning. Will scrape down the grates after each use and put them in my gasser over real high heat to get a good scraping a couple times a year. I also have to vacuum Out the barrel every 5-6 cooks and scrape the drip...

Memorial Day: The Fallen / Lest We Forget

My dad served two tours in Vietnam and a total of 25 years in the US Army. Yes, I am a military brat, and I wear that badge proudly. Not because it is given as an entitlement, but because he sacrificed everything to give me that honor. My dad is gone now, but his sacrifice is never taken for...

    Thoughts on Saison/Farmhouse Yeast

I am not very good with information as I am waaaay too early in this hobby to know much of any difference between yeast. This being said, I just bottled (after 5 weeks fermenting) my first batch of Saison. For this brew it was recommended I use Omega Saisonmonster yeast. I pitched the yeast...

    Shoutout to everyone’s favorite LHBS

As you can see from the number of post, I am pretty new to this hobby. That being said, pretty sure my LHBS is the same one Monmouth00 and many of you use as well. Bobby’s store is just 10 minutes from my house. Matter of fact just picked up a few supplies this afternoon. I have never met him...

    I never heard this before.

Good information. I used a liquid yeast for the first time a few weeks back on my Saison brew. I will know better next time to aerate the wort prior to pitching the yeast, as I did not aerate this time. Thanks for the info.

    Home brewery porn…

Man Beerwildered that is one fantastic garage set up. Amazing. Oleson, that is an equally impressive barroom set up you have as well. I too am an “Ex-Con” now with UA. On the Airport Operations side of things.

    Suggestions for new grill/smoker replacement

As you can see from my avatar I have a Rec Teq 680 pellet cooker for all my low and slow cooks. Rarely do I use it for any high heat quick cooks, but have on occasion. I have a Weber 22 inch kettle and an old classic Happy Cooker 22” kettle for those cooks that require high heat and that great...

    What's in your fermenter(s)?

5 gallons of Saison from extract and Omega Saisonmonster yeast. Three weeks into fermentation, thinking one or possibly two more weeks until bottling. I don’t have temp control so it is currently fermenting at about 68 F. Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.

Building a hop trellis - questions

Not sure if they would hold a 14’ tall post, but I have seen brackets that get set into the concrete and the post bolt into the bracket. When you set the concrete you would do the same as you indicated. Set above the soil line and after setting the bracket in the concrete slope the concrete...

I keep asking local distributors if they would ever carry Jupiler. Keeping my fingers crossed.

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

Oh, I also have a Weber Kettle, a Happy Cooker Kettle (my antique joy) and now a very seldom used Weber Gasser in the arsenal as well.

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

I have a Rec Teq pellet grill I have used for 5 years now. I love this cooker. Some say not enough smoke flavor, but the perfect amount for our family. Cooked a turkey Split breast and a meatloaf this past weekend. If you have not had meatloaf on a smoker, you gotta try it. I know I did not...

    From Belgium, but living abroad

Hey, welcome, and I am a newbie myself. I lived in Belgium for a few years. Although not near what most even know about as a Belgian beer, or anything near a craft beer, I loved Jupiler as an everyday drinking beer. Maes Pils was a good alternative. Sorry, did not mean to take your post off target.
