Fill 5L kegs from a corny?

i bet with a little modification you could use it like that, hell you could probably even modify it with a couple of ball lock posts and use carbonation to move it out. although at that point it could get as expensive as a 5 gallon corny. but, it would be super cool and much more transportable.

I know, I know RDWHAHB... But

had this happen on a witbier the other day... dunno about being a pan in the ass to clean. took me all of 10 minutes. most of the pain was the krausen on the outside after the airlock when blowing off. oxyclean and hot water works every time.

    Whirlpool Build

So, I wanted to try and build a whirlpool that was a little more easy on the budget than the standard design with the March Pump and Immersion chiller. Part of this is me being cheap (i could afford the system but dont want to spend that much) and part of me wants to develope something much...

    (Kinda) Old Grain

my guess is they are probably not a good idea to use. First they have have other flavors from the freezer in them, second they are crushed. For optimal extraction you need to use them as soon as possible, even with freezing. that and it cant be more than $5 dollars worth of grain anyway, go to...

    Wing It

I brewed one batch to a recipe, from then on i found it uninteresting to follow a recipe and starting throwing stuff i knew i liked in there. Now, i make all sorts of fun stuff. My next beer might be a true winner (not in style, because it is its own style) and im really excited to brew it. but...

    Mash Temp Question

Yes there is a correlation. Part of it has to do with that the higher temps strip sugars from the grain more quickly, and the lower temp doesnt. but they both do, so you would just have to have the 140 mash last longer to get more extraction. there are a lot of factors involved, but hitting a...

Best yeast for Ballast Point Sculpin clone?

Ballast uses White Labs almost exclusively. Even on their proprietary strains they use white labs to cultivate. after all its practically just up the street. so in response, im with trent. WL 001, im 90% sure thats it, but if not its def a white labs yeast.

Too much water below false bottom?

well there is a point where i reached my boil volume and shut off the spigot. i don't need to boil for 120 minutes to get down to my desired volume. i was just wondering if there was a cause to think there may be an efficiency boost. the fact that you are not leaving much space for wort to...

Too much water below false bottom?

maybe this is completely n00bish, but what is the benefit of this beyond getting more liquid out?

    Going Pro?

dont get me wrong, i'm no expert. but wouldn't it be easier to produce on that small of a scale if the Bar converts over to a BrewPub? then he hires you to be the brewer part time? a two barrel system with a couple of fermenters and you can produce 1-2 types beers consistently for one bar. with...
