    Starters from 25 billion cells...

I scoured the forums and couldn't find any info on this exact method... I want to take a WLP vial (~100billion cells) and split that into 4 sanitized vials (~25 million cells each) and stick them in the fridge. Four days before brew, take one vial, make a 1 L starter to take it back to 100...

    Green beer

Did you do a full boil? or partial boil and top up with water? If doing a partial boil, the gravity of wort is higher than when you do a full 6+ gallon boil. The higher concentration of sugars makes it more difficult for the isomerized alpha acids to dissolve. A lot of people when brewing...

    BIAB Fly Sparge?

Would this work? The plan is mash in a bag in the kettle, pull the bag out and throw it in the funnel, then fly sparge using the ball valve to control water level. No manifolds to clean, no grain to try and clean up, just rinse the funnel and toss the already bagged grain. Thoughts?

Pitch at 78 then chill to 60?

I was thinking of that. I'm pretty confident in my sanitation, but still always worry about not pitching soon enough. It just becomes a question: Is it better to pitch cooler but wait longer before pitching, or pitch a little warm right away?

Pitch at 78 then chill to 60?

Controller probe is not quite long enough. Its only inside the chamber about 6-8" I do have a small digital aquarium thermometer i could stick on there and adjust the temp controller accordingly..

Pitch at 78 then chill to 60?

My last three brews I've had trouble getting my wort chilled below 78deg with an IC. Is there any risk to pitching Chico at 78deg then putting the carboy into a 60deg ambient ferm chamber right away? Also, setting my ferm chamber to 60deg essentially guarantees my beer cant go below 60deg...

    Enough of a boil?

This is toward the beginning of the boil , I had just flipped it down to to 1125 watts for the video so i could get everyone's opinions. There is actually a lot of movement of the wort on the outer edges, but you can't really tell with that foam on the surface.

    Enough of a boil?

I use the 4500w to bring the temp up to boil and it gets pretty vigorous. I use the 4500w for ten minutes during hop additions, otherwise its the lower setting. Its a converted keg so I don't have to worry about boil overs. If I leave it on 4500w for the whole hour I get a little over 2...

    Enough of a boil?

I have a 4500 watt element wired up with a 3 way switch, so it is either 4500 watts at 220v or 1125 watts at 110v. Question is, is this a rigorous of enough boil on the lower setting?

Use only the juice from cherries?

I'm planning on using 10# of fresh cherries in a stout that just finished primary. My plan was to heat the cherries from frozen to about 165*, mash them up in the pot, strain off the juice, and toss that juice into secondary after it cools. The question is, Will the juice alone be enough to...
