    Low Calorie Homebrew?

I was drawing a blank as to what my next brew will be. So I asked my live in GF. She said "light beer". Hence I stumble on this thread. I'm sure she'd spring for the Bean-O haha

    Copper element for heat stick?

You know those things are used in electric water heaters, too- not just home brew rigs!!! And I've never heard first hand of anyone who died from drinking hot water from the tap.

    Heatstick build - PVC Couplers

My buddy and I built a HLT with a element protruding thru the bottom of a rubbermaid 10 gallon cooler using a sawed off PVC threaded part inside. Works great. However we developed a small leak. We tried to get the PVC off but it seems to have shrunk on tight. I think we're going to have to...

    question re: stir plate starters

I usually make starters of dry yeast and DME on Wednesday PM then try to brew on Saturday. Recently I was delayed until Monday eve for an extract brew- 5 full days on the stir plate. The beer (maple porter) was going gangbusters by the time I woke up the next morning. In fact, one of the most...

    Sparging Techniques

Similar to Hammy- To try to speed things up, I use 3 pots. It seems to trim about 15-30 minutes off an extract brew. I get 4 gallons of water to 170F in the main boil kettle. I pour off 1 gallon to another smaller mash pot, and another gallon into a "Hot liquor" pot. Into the mash pot the...

Need advice- Using 240V water heater element for 120V?

Thanks for all the input folks =D I don't find any extra low density elements at my big box stores, even in the USA's 20th largest city :P But ordering one from plumbingsupply sounds like a winner.

Need advice- Using 240V water heater element for 120V?

For use in eRIMS system. External element in a pipe design. I'd like to use a longer element due to lower W/in2 so not to caramelize wort. The industry calls this Low Density or Ultra Low Density. The longer (including foldback) elements are usually not available in 120V. From what I...
