    Element under false bottom.

I want to make the switch to BIAB electric. I make 10 gal batches. According to BeerSmith I need at least 16-17 gal pot to do single vessel BIAB for my batches. What I was thinking was getting a 20 gal pot. The pot would have a port in the bottom for draining. Another port in the bottom and one...

    Sack squeezing and haze

I’m also a squeezer. I use pvc gloves and squeeze the bag while it’s hoisted above on a pulley system. I ferment in a modified chest freezer, so I cold crash and use gelatin for finings. Beer comes out crystal clear.

    Why doesn’t everyone BIAB?

Some very intelligent and thought provoking responses on this thread. By 3V and BIAB brewers alike. For most of us, brew day is an escape from reality, a meditative “me” time when we can indulge in our favorite pastime. Wether youre doin it on a complicated setup or a bare bones minimal rig...

    Why doesn’t everyone BIAB?

Ss Brewtech is releasing a 20 gal elec pot and controller in Jan/feb. I’m gonna be making that purchase. Will be making the concert to 10 gal full vol BIAB with that bad boy!!! Can’t wait.

    Why doesn’t everyone BIAB?

    Got one.

How many of you guys with an eBIAB setup let the bag touch the element?

Let me know how the bag on element works. I’m planning on doing the same.

    Why doesn’t everyone BIAB?

It seems to me a logical question. I’ve been doing 10 gal all-grain batches for about 6-7 years. Propane fired keggle, mashing in a Rubbermaid cooler. After too many stuck sparges I switched to the brew bag just in the mash tun. Loved it so much I’m gonna upgrade to a 20 gal kettle so I can...

    20 gal elec kettle

Yes the SSbt setup looks amazing. I will prob be going with that. I did email the Blichmann guys asking that very question. Their response was that the boil coil is not designed to be used in contact with a BIAB. also their false bottom would still have a portion of the boil coil exposed above...

    20 gal elec kettle

    Ss Brewtech eBrewing

Brülosophy just posted a review on SS Brewtech kettle. It looks amazing. I want to move to electric single vessel BIAB and I really like the SS Brewtech setup. They say they will be releasing the 20 gal version in Jan/feb.

    20 gal elec kettle

I’m looking to make the switch to electric and wanted to see if anyone had a recommendation. I make 10 gal batches. Gonna be doing single vessel BIAB brewing. No recirculating mash. Already got the bag, the hoist, etc. Need a 20 gal elec kettle and controller. Pretty basic. SS Brewtech offers...

What brand BIAB bag do you use?

Is copper immersion chiller turning my pool green?

Yeah that’s what I figured. My pool is currently the color of lady liberty

    Jaded Hydra chiller users

I have a hydra I use for 10 gal batches. With 80 degree groundwater it gets it down to around 81-82 degrees in about 7 minutes. Amazing. Probably one of my favorite pieces of equipment. Absolutely love it.

    Keezer without a freezer?

Just a thought, my local Costco had small chest freezers for $200. I know you’re not looking to build a keezer but I love mine.

    Grain Mill?

I’ve had a barley crusher for about 4 years. It’s been fine. I also make 10 gal batches every 2 weeks and it chews thru 25lbs fast. Lately I’ve graduated to BIAB and the barley crusher will not do a credit card size gap the first go around. So now I run it through at normal setting, adjust the...

    Siphon storage

I store a lot of that equipment in a plastic milk crate. Holes in the bottom of the crate allow for airflow and drying. My hoses I usually hang on a hook in the garage.

Is copper immersion chiller turning my pool green?

New home owner here. I’ve had some bad pool issues since we’ve moved in. Had several pool guys out who could not determine the issues with cloudiness and pool turning green. I brew poolside and empty my jaded copper immersion chiller into the pool. I think that is the cause of my problem...

    Grain mill stopped working

Makes sense. I didn’t think i could achieve such high efficiency with current setup. Either way, I can postpone shelling out $$ for a new grain mill for awhile....

    Grain mill stopped working

Last update- using double crush method (bigger gap and then much smaller gap) I rocked an 83% efficiency today on a honey kolsch. Not sure if the late honey addition added to the amount of fermentable sugars, but my normal efficiency has been 79% since I switched to a BIAB in my mash tun. Either...
