    Help..Starting Gravity to High

I think the general formula (from HBT) works like this: (Current OG / Desired OG) * Current Volume = Final Volume So for you, assuming that you currently have 5 gallons, 1.072 to 1.065 would look like this, for example. (72/65) * 5 gals = approx 5.4 gallons into your fermentor Hope that...

    Help..Starting Gravity to High

You can add water just like you're topping up. I've never had any issues. Others on here might recommend being a little more cautious but I would just let 'er rip. :ban:

    Help..Starting Gravity to High

You can add water to lower the gravity or just run with it. RDWHAHB :)

    Trade Homebrew Pictures!

Thx for the insight. I'm going to give the trading thing a go and build up my credibility. :) I am probably interested in the same things the rest of the community is after: KBS, a real bottle of PtE to compare to my clone, a can of Heady, a bottle of Goose Island BCS and oddly enough...

    Trade Homebrew Pictures!

How do I get involved with these awesome trades? I have access to some pretty good stuff: Founder's, Great Lakes, Victory, Deschutes, etc. It looks like you guys/gals are having a ball. :tank:

    the best homebrew video ever!!!

Same. I made a coffee stout and sadly only had some 60 min hops to add or I would have been all like: 60 mins BOOM, 30 mins BOOM, knockout BOOM, etc. Agree with you....totally not making fun of this guy. I think he's awesome!!! And his set up is legit.

If you had $ what would you buy next?

That's actually "reasonable" given some of the SS prices I have seen. Thx for the link.

I wish. Aren't these like outrageously priced? /drool

    the best homebrew video ever!!!

THIS!!! I want to get completely sideways/bonkers drunk with this guy and hear all about his first girlfriend and that time he was in the mosh pit at the {insert Norwegian Death Metal Band Here} over and over. Then we can go to Waffle House and when he adds the syrup to his waffles he can...

Guys, Guys, Guys, I found a thing.

Under 12+ inches of snow with 3 more coming tonight and a high of 5º F tomorrow, I really hate you right now. :D

Guys, Guys, Guys, I found a thing.

On my mac i simply hit: FN + OPTION + 0 (zero) and I get the degree superscript. It's only 2ºF outside right now. Close enough. :)

    Hi from Florida

Welcome from KY. This is the place to learn and make brew friends. It's an indispensable resource and as encouraging as AA. ;)

Sounds like the clear winners are: Fermentation Control Bigger Brew Kettle The Skull Jacket and saying "BOOM" when you add hops

Thanks @dcrog. I might have to text them and see if they can wait until snowmagedon is over. ;)

You learn something new every day (it seems) with this hobby. I've paid very little attention to temperature control thus far in my first 6 months. I just found a video where Palmer includes it as #2 in his top 5 tips for better beer. Mission: find a chest freezer or fridge.

If you had $ what would you buy next?

Never had off-flavors. My ambient always falls within the yeast lab's spec sheets so why complicate things? Thus I haven't paid much attention to temp control. If there is a beer out there that I want to make that requires adjusting the temp up for a D rest etc, I simply don't make it. I...
