    Exciting news

SO I was infourmed by SWMBO that I was going to be a DADDY! :rockin: I will be a first time Daddy and i dont think I have ever been so excited in my life. We havent told every one family wise yet but I am busting at the seams to tell folks. So I figured I could get away with telling the HBT...

    Differences Between LME and DME

+1 on the wisk. I add my DME at flame out and use a wisk to break the clumps and then my paddle to make sure its mixed in well.
  5. Reddheadedstepchild

    Late DME addition

You could also do the DME addition at flame out. Or when the boil is done. I do this myself. I read on here some where that as long as the DME is in the wert at a temp above 165F for a few mins that it is pasturized and you dont have to boil it. Do a search for flame out exstract additions.:mug...

    Late DME addition

You dont have to remove it, but be real careful becuase DME likes to foam up if added during the boil. If you add it during the boil add in small amounts at a time and be ready to yank that pot off the heat to keep it from boiling over.;) Eric.

    dark dme or light dme

I would use the light DME. You will be plenty dark with the grains and qauntaties you have. Eric. ;)
  8. Reddheadedstepchild

    dark dme or light dme

I would have to see your recipe, but with the grains you would be fine use ing the light. The dark DME will make a a darker beer with those grains. The dark DME also has, from what I have read, more non fermentables in it. I always use light or exstra light or pale DME . I let my Grain bill set...

    Coors Light? Any Suggestions

Beer snobery is all about attitude and presentation. Thats why im much more of what I would consider a beer nerd. I love beer, I wanna know as much as I can about beer and how its made. Its simple there are alot of beers that I dont like the flavor of but I dont go around acting like an ******...

    Coors Light? Any Suggestions

+ 1 on the cream ale. I have found that a good cream ale works wonders as a gateway beer to the bmc crowd.

    Costco and homebrew?

WoW! That is interesting. It just goes to show how popular brewing has become.

My first secondary. I officially HATE secondary

It would take along time for starsan to get funky. A lot longer than the 1 mounth until bottleing your waiting.

    Bottle Prep

I like the bulk prepping before hand. It keeps bottleing days more fun and less time consumeing. Plus bulk prepping gives you another day working towards beer stuff as well as a reason to have a home brew or 2.

    Bottle Prep

Me personally, I use baking soda and water to remove labels and it works pretty good. As far as sanitation goes I wash bottles in the dish washer on the crystal setting. Then I allow them to dry, or realy I let the heated dry of the washer do it. then I rip up a bunch of 1x1 squares of tin foil...
