    Figuring abv after secondary additions.

I am making a belgian honey wit that I racked onto honey in the secondary. I am wondering how I would figure out my final ABV after adding the extra fermentables in the secondary. My OG was 1.064 and my reading before racking was 1.008. After racking onto the honey, I had 1.012. Is figuring my...

Foamy Pours - Read This if you posted for this problem recently

I had this same problem a couple of months back. I could see bubbles forming in my liquid line and was lucky to get less than 3/4 glass of foam. Tried everything and it ended up being my CO2 tank being extremely low. When I hooked up a fresh one, it started pouring perfectly.

Keggle built! Wish me luck on my 1st 10 gallon brew day!

Digging the VW as well. Looks pretty clean. Used to drive a 73 super and have since upgraded to an '04 .:R32.

    A contest for tightwads

I wouldn't consider myself a tight-wad, just smart with my money. I haven't had cable/tv for over 3 years. I haven't had a balance on my credit card for nearly 2 years. I pay an extra $75 on my mortgage every month which will knock 3-4 years off it and save me nearly $40K in payments. My boat...

So, have you ever urinated in the shower?

It does have its benefits. Peeing in the shower can help with athelete's foot. The acids in urine are toxic to the fungus that cause it. I wouldn't suggest doing it in the shower at the gym though :)

    First time issues

The airlock activity is most likely co2 that was dissolved in your beer escaping because of the racking. This is normal and nothing to worry about.

    Aluminium or stainless steel kettle?

I use a turkey fryer that has an aluminum pot. I have no issues getting it clean if I wash it right after transferring my wort to the fermenter. All I have to use is hot water and a sponge w/o the green scrubber. I don't worry about getting it all shiny and bright, just removing all the residue.

    Crooked Stinger honey ale/braggot (extract)

I made this a few months back and it came out extremely well, so I decided to share. Turned out very dry and refreshing. Corriander and orange peel work well with the citrus type hops. Very yummy and potent. 6lb pilsner LME 5lb raw fall wildflower honey (flameout) 1lb caramel 10L steeping...

    What do you drive?

04 VW Golf R32. Love this car. 240 hp & 240 tourque, all wheel drive, and an exhaust note that sounds like a wookie's mating call. Only 5000 imported every 4 years. I've owned it for 3 years and still love driving it. Never gets old hitting tripple digits passing someone.

    Ferment time

-edited, misread your post. 2 weeks is common but I have had some take up to a month. Gotta test them to know. Some people will bottle one in a soda bottle so they can check by squeezing it.

When does beer w/ honey become braggot?

Final update: just kegged it after bottling a dozen for long term storage. It finished at 1.004, between 9.85 and 10%, depending on the calculator used. Beautiful hazy yellow/gold color. Hops and spices are balanced nicely and do a great job of hiding the alcohol bite. Finishes dry and tart...

    ANDROID Phones are for girls!!!!

Being able to modify your phone is nice, but I am still wary of droids for one reason, viruses. If they were not capable of being infected, I might have chosen one over my Iphone.

    Naming Your Homebrew

If I create the recipie, I name it. Otherwise I just label it with it's style, date, and abv. I'm just starting my own recipies and have brewed 2, both worthy of naming. The Black Knight is a black IPA made with Warrior hops and is a nod to one of my favorite movies, Monty Python's Holy Grail...

    New: Budweiser Black Crown

I agree. I picked up 2 as part of a mixed six pack. I wasn't impressed. I expected some flavor in something with Guiness on the label. Gave the second to someone who drinks light lagers and he loved it. I'll stick with the original and foreign extra stout.

When does beer w/ honey become braggot?

Update: first gravity reading today, and it sits at 1.008, just shy of 9.5%. Nice golden color, but still quite hazy with suspended yeast. Honey flavor is there but hard to pick out. Orange peel and corriander play well with the hops and give it a refreshing finish. Cold crashing the rest of my...

When does beer w/ honey become braggot?

Ok, guess I can continue calling it a honey ale since I used less honey than malt. Thanks for the info Medic. It is still fermenting with regular airlock activity every 10 seconds or so. The honey aroma from it has faded a lot. I'm thinking another 2 weeks or so before it gets transfered to...
