Possible reasons for a negative ABV?

As a guess you reversed OG and FG and missed a 0 in the FG number.. instead of say 1.056 you used 1.56. Calcuator here that will do it for you https://www.brewersfriend.com/abv-calculator/

What I did for beer today

Kegged 11 gallons of house ale and washed fermenters so I can brew later today or this weekend(leaning towards Saturday brew day). Get another batch of house ale made and kegged then get a batch of lager brewed now that they are forecasting lower temps next week so my pantry will be high 50's f...

Keg beer seems to get worse with age?

Long as you have sanitizer in the airlock a fruit fly or 6 won't hurt the beer. Make sure to keep it full though and clean them out if they appear!

Mini kegs system-anyone has done it?

All I can say is read reviews then go to real kegs... they do make a 1 1/4 gallon keg... you can maybe find a lower price, I didn't search https://www.morebeer.com/products/torpedo-ball-lock-kegs.html

Upgrading to 10 gallon capacity - gear recommendations?

I brew 11 gallon batches. I use a 15 gallon BK and mash tun. Mash tun is okay for the beers I brew, BK is always and exercise in burner control and stirring to stop foam over(I refuse to use chemicals in my beer!). If I upgrade both will go to 20 gallon, the current mash tun will become the HLT...

    Warm Fermented Lager Thread

Okay next chance I have to brew is going to be a SMASH lager, 22 pounds Belgian Pilsner(11 gallon batch), 3oz Hallertau 60 minutes, 2 oz 10 min... no this will not be an exciting beer, basic lager to give me an idea how warmer(ale temp) fermentation does. 34/70 for yeast.

Keg beer seems to get worse with age?

Infection somewhere in the system. PBW is not that great of a cleaner for used kegs, I use BLC and it has removed some nasty stuff from what looked like clean used kegs... I use it double strength(wear gloves and eye protection!) on all new(used) kegs I get in. Since I use pinlocks they are...

    Need oatmeal milk stout recipe

I need an oatmeal milk stout recipe to use as a base for a red velvet oatmeal milk stout. Trying to clone the one made by Brau Brothers Brewery in Marshall, MN. It has lots of chocolate so I figure 12oz Cholaca will add that, and a hint of raspberry I can get from an extract. Just need a good...

My first all grain ale - my own recipe

2 1/2 gallons in a 5 gallon bucket is to much head space. They do make 6.5 gallon fermenting buckets. I add a spigot to mine and ferment and bottle/keg from the same bucket(no secondary for the beers I make)

Took a chance on cheap CO2 tank....

"A fool and his money are soon parted" The account is a scam, has never sold anything and last purchase was 6 months ago... you will all be filing item not received claims!

My first all grain ale - my own recipe

That had to be one hard to stir mash! I use 1.5 qts/pound also and run around 85% efficiency but I crush my own grain and check the gap every so often in the mill.
