    My current batch used 2 kg (~ 9.5 cups) of dry rice and fit into half of a 2.5 gallon jar. So (9.5 cups/5 quarts) * 3.5 quarts ~= 6.5 cups of dry rice.

    One week and three week pics. Its largely liquefied from the conversion of the starch but is still fermenting vigorously. I don't think it will be finished at the four week mark. Grains of rice are cycling up and down from the floating cap to the bottom.

    Rice cooker "cups" are 180 ml of dry rice. They are approximately equal to 3/4 of a US cup. So a "10 cup" rice cooker can cook up to 10*.75 = 7.5 US cups of dry rice. If the cooker is just for brewing purposes a steamer works better and is typically cheaper.

    When i used Chinese yeast balls for my current batch I crushed the balls in their (two ball) packet with a mallet and then soaked the packet in starsan. The idea was to sanitize everything except the packet contents. No sign of infection so far.
