    Dual Spires Black Lodge Ale

Am I understanding you correctly, "6 lbs a piece of sorghum and rice..." as in 12 lbs plus the candi sugar? Was this for a 5 gallon batch? If so, that's gonna be a pretty strong brew (somewhere around 1.090 OG and ultimately around 8.8% ABV?). Rock on...

    Dual Spires Black Lodge Ale

The D-180 definitely adds a bunch of complex flavors. I like the idea of adding coffee or espresso, but I've never done it so I'm not sure how it would work out. I do have a non-GF DIPA in the secondary sitting on 3oz of Hungarian oak cubes soaked for two weeks in 8oz of Jack Daniels; that one...

    Recipe without candi syrup??

You could try some variation of Hop Bursted Pale Ale here. It is an all rice syrup recipe (as in no surghum) which is a little unusual, but it uses buckwheat honey as an additional fermentable and contains no candi syrup.

    Dual Spires Black Lodge Ale

This has been one of my favorite batches so far; hope you enjoy it. As for the cloudiness, it should clear considerably in the secondary. Also, I always throw 1tsp of Irish Moss in the last 15 minutes of the boil.

    Dual Spires Black Lodge Ale

:mug:You are the first person to catch the Psych reference (Dual Spires). And of course the "Black Lodge" was a nod to the original Twin Peaks series...

    Dual Spires Black Lodge Ale

My recipe is for 5 gall and I assume Matt's is too. And absolutely, my next batch will be a black IPA based on this recipe.

GF Dogfish Head 60 IPA Clone

Sorry for the slow response; 5 Star thread and recipe here.

    Kitchen Sink Pale Ale

Well... this started off as a version of mloster's "Hop Bursted pale Ale". I thought I would add some invert sugar (bump up the gravity) and add some blackstrap molasses (add a little flavor and color). I also decided to sub Cascade for the Centennial (had a bunch of Cascade in the freezer)...

    Hop Bursted Pale Ale

Well... I don't know yet. I've been ignoring it. It spent 2 weeks in the primary and now 2 weeks in the secondary; gonna bottle it this weekend. I have however, changed my batch's name from Hop Bursted Pale Ale to "Bag Bursted Brown Ale"... I was using two 3lb bags (bag in a box) of rice...

    Dual Spires Black Lodge Ale

Honesty I'm not sure where the molasses stops and the D-180 starts, but the sweetness and overall flavor with the hops is nice, without being too rich.

    Dual Spires Black Lodge Ale

Ultimately, not much; it's omission likely wouldn't have made much of a difference... It did bring ABV up from 5.1 to 5.4 and brought IBUs down from 36 to 34.

    Dual Spires Black Lodge Ale

This beer has turned out very well. Gave a 4-pak to a non-GF beer loving friend and he really enjoyed it. He said it was hoppier than he expected but he really liked it. Not sure what I would change... The hops used were mostly a result of what I had on hand, but I think they worked out well...

    Hop Bursted Pale Ale

Okay friends, I am "fiending" to brew a batch of beer today... Below is my take on mloster's HBPA. I am concerned that without any sorghum, it will turn out like my blonde ale, which while tasty, has the body of a can of sprite or a glass of champagne, very light with lots of bubbles but no...

GF Dogfish Head 60 IPA Clone

Hard to say. I will say that in terms of a GF IPA, the 5 Star IPA came out much better, and there were no late sorghum additions. Also, the Black Lodge Ale tastes very good (Guiness-ish), and for that batch I pretty much just dumped in everything at the start of the (45min) boil. I know some...

GF Dogfish Head 60 IPA Clone

How it turned out... It's been gone for a while now but let me try to sum it up. This was only my second ever batch of homebrew and the first batch was a kit, so I think I definitely bit off more than I could chew: 1) It did not taste like a Dogfish Head 60 min 2) While it was quite...

    Five Star American IPA

    Yes, it was D-45.

    Hop Bursted Pale Ale

At 7%ABV you must have "bumped" something up. Care to share your version of the recipe?

    Three Falls Blonde Ale

This was another of my experiments with Cascade hops. I bottled it on 7/17/12 after 2 weeks primary, and 1 in secondary. With a twist of lime, this beer tastes like a Corona (a yummy bohemian Corona with 5.5ABV and 32IBU). Even my "non-beer drinking" wife likes it (nice). With a 30 minute...

    Five Star American IPA

So, after a month of conditioning, I put a PartyPig of this IPA in the fridge this weekend. The taste and the beer overall has really matured. While I am very experienced in the drinking of beer, I am not so experienced in the describing of beer, but here goes... There is no sorghum twang...

    Dual Spires Black Lodge Ale

Bottled this last night after 2 weeks in the primary and a week in the secondary. The final partially filled bottle was so good I drank it warm and flat... This could turn out to be a very good beer; more to come. Pretty easy; only did a 45 minute boil: Time - Additions 45min - 3lb...
