Is Imperial L26 "Pilgrimage" blended yeast an Andechs strain?

Well, now we've got at least one more propagator. I think Bootleg does a BETA release at least twice a year, probably more, so you'll have another chance at it. I was also really impressed with how quickly it flocced out when I did the starter. Pitched it into the starter at about 9pm and it...

Can't lager, want to make Oktoberfest

If you can keep the temps in the low to mid 60s for the first few days of fermentation then that's really all you need. Use Diamond or 34/70, the german ale yeast, or a kolsch yeast and it will be great. Condition cold in the bottle after carbonation, like @AlexKay mentioned, and you'll get a...

Is Imperial L26 "Pilgrimage" blended yeast an Andechs strain?

Related post from @SanPancho about Bootleg Biology updates. It involves the Andechs strain... https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/andechs-lager-yeast-lagerx-mip620-now-coming-from-bootleg-biology-beta-release-spring-2023.726171/ Also, I just brewed a helles yesterday afternoon and pitched the...

Andechs lager yeast/ LagerX / MIP620 - now coming from Bootleg biology Beta release Spring 2023

Came here to post the same thing and saw this first! Andechs is in BETA but if we give it some love then Bootleg has shown in the past that they aren't afraid to push a BETA into their core lineup.

    Recommend Beers from Indiana/Michigan/Illinois

Seconding this if you can get your hands on it. And this one This is a great choice. Alarmist Bamberger and Art History Fastenbier are also really good showings. If you can get your hands on some Scratch then I feel that belongs somewhere on this list.

    BrewFather Doesn't Save Batch Notes

That sucks to hear. I haven't lost all too many notes so far but it's just a matter of time before I do. Next time it happens I'll try to remember to put it in their issue tracker since maybe it's not just my issue. Cheers :mug:

White Labs WLP001 Dry Yeast Coming Soon

People lie. I doubt anyone would argue that. In this case, I think the issue with lying is that they signed a contract and it'd be a relatively simple matter to spot check some packs of dry 001 see if they're being honest.

    BrewFather Doesn't Save Batch Notes

I've had this happen a few times but not with a discernible pattern. I think maybe there is a certain view in the app where it just doesn't save automatically. Or maybe the note feature on a certain platform (I use on phone, tablet, and desktop) is just buggy. Seems like it's under pretty active...

    Swing-Top Bottles

Yeah, ditto on that. He should be able to find some pretty easily on Craigslist in the Toronto area. Grolsch ones always seemed to work the best for me, anyway, and a 4-pack is not expensive.

    Swing-Top Bottles

Huh, seems like I'm the outlier here. I always had maybe 1 in every 10 bottles that didn't really carb well. I tracked every bottle and never could figure out a pattern until I started physically inspecting the cages and caps. A few definitely had slight play. New seals and re-shaping the cages...

    Swing-Top Bottles

I thought the same and also had the same doubts. Bought the EZ cap to test it out since you can either do the swing top or caps with those. I eventually ended up ditching all the swing tops. Some of the cages got wonky on me after a while, the gaskets need replaced, bottles can be harder to...

    Warm Fermented Lager Thread

I'm betting that's the tube for the floating dip. Looks like it's probably the Anvil Junior so it would make sense in that case. Looks great and I appreciate the updates. Here's my Nova lager from last night. Clear as can be now and tasting pretty crisp :) Glad yours is cleaning up well.

White Labs WLP001 Dry Yeast Coming Soon

I can't find anything definitive but on their low alc guide it specifically lists only Windsor and London as maltotriose negative... https://www.lallemandbrewing.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/LAL-bestpractices-Low_alcohol_beer-DIGITAL.pdf

White Labs WLP001 Dry Yeast Coming Soon

I'm reading through and really enjoy the discussion. Some good points that I wasn't thinking about. I'm still not sure I get the move from WL here, though. What untapped piece of the yeast-buyer pie are they looking to pick up? I agree that I would pay the same price for a dry version of a yeast...

    Airlock Water

Yeah, nothing wrong with Knob Creek! And nothing wrong with liking what you like. It's not quite as cheap but if you have Famous Grouse around you it drinks pretty well for a cheap blended scotch. I actually looked it up before and saw that about Charles Barkley. Not what I expected 😂 I will...

    Airlock Water

Well, I probably fall somewhere in between there I believe :) Still young enough to ask. Just old enough to know better than to expect a correct answer. I think you were trapped by some vague wording in my post, though. I edited. I am soliciting a thousand different answers for a gateway bottle...

    Airlock Water

This sounds very interesting. Definitely something I am going to try on an upcoming batch! I also find myself mostly using blowoffs these days, though. So I guess it will just be a very special treat. Fair point. I'm usually a pretty equal opportunity boozer and I'd never judge a spirit just by...
