*Really* high OG using Brewer's Best Weizenbier kit

$&@$ you actually did do that. Oh well try again! Next time just add all your boil and top off to 5 g.

*Really* high OG using Brewer's Best Weizenbier kit

So.....he has a 50 gallon fermenter? I dont think so... If he added all the extract and didn't pour all but a 10th of it down the drain, then filled it back up to 5 gallons as he said he did, it should be fine. I think his gravity is 1.045 since he thought 1.033 was 1.33.

*Really* high OG using Brewer's Best Weizenbier kit

Don't toss it! What temperature did you take this at? If wort is still warm your OG is actually higher than that. The link is a hydrometer correction calculator. http://hbd.org/cgi-bin/recipator/recipator/hydrometer.html Regardless just keep it, unless you forgot to add the extract, your...

    Keg as a 2ndary

I did this and it was fine, but you will probably need to rack into another keg to carbonate due to hop and yeast sediment.

    Teagues Pt. ESB

Thanks for the information! I have got the same victory malt already so that's perfect. I'll tell you how this goes when I brew it, but I have to drink some kegs empty first. I'll probably do this in about a month.

    I don't care if it's 9:42 am

You just have to take the exam drunk. If you learn drunk you remember that information better while intoxicated-or at least thats what they told me in psychology class. Haven't tested this, but the problem is that its really hard to learn while drunk....oh well, you probably won't care any...

    Chilling wort without wort chiller.

I can't remember where I read this, but guy sterilized old half gallon water jugs, added sterilized water, froze them, sterilized the outside again, and then dropped them into his brew kettle without cutting them open. He would wait till it thawed, removed it, and add another. He said he...

Help, 5 gallon AG batches with extract supplies

Part of my motivation is that its finals week for me and I need a source of procrastination! I'm done thinking about yeast tetrads and rather think about brewing. Any way, yes and yes, I put some of the grains (all of the specially grains) into the bags, but there was some 2-row free because...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Double Chocolate Oatmeal Snout

Hmm...I was thinking about trying to skim off the top layer when kegging and adding to secondary...I think I can see a little bit of the oil on top. Still fermenting though so hard to tell.

    Teagues Pt. ESB

Gonna try this next. Have you ever kegged it?

Help, 5 gallon AG batches with extract supplies

I did my first AG! It actually wasn't much harder than a partial and more fun. Keeping true to only using extract supplies, I used the bottling bucket as my MLT. After googling I have found others who have done it too. I kept temps within a degree-did it at 154F without a problem for an...

Can I mash in my 5-gallon bottling bucket?

    Pyrrhic Victory ESB

I brewed this and it tasted good before I kegged it. A little bready and it had a nice bitterness. Got infection at some point though and now tastes rubbery and sour. Still drinkable after that, so it must be a good brew. I will rebrew this in my new fermenter soon and report back.

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Double Chocolate Oatmeal Snout

Thanks man! Brewed this last night and I am really excited for this. I used white lab Irish ale yeast cause I had it around. I pitched the vial at 2 AM (I dont know why I started brewing at 10PM on a weeknight...seemed like a good idea at the time), woke up, and it was fermenting at 8 AM...

Have you ever infected your beer/wort??

It was my bucket that caused two bad beers. Just opened my strong ale...has same flavor too and used boiled water on that one. Pissed, that was a 75 dollar beer.

Have you ever infected your beer/wort??

Help! I think I might have one now. Never had one before. Before I kegged my ESB it tasted nice and a little bready. After conditioning in the keg, which is brand new and never used, it has a rubbery taste. I can't figure out if its autolysis (maybe I got to enthusiastic with racking the...
