    DIY Inline Oxygenation

I don't understand how the carb stone sits in the threaded nipple? It looks like the barbed end of the stone is in some tubing which is threaded thru the nipple, but what makes that stay in place without leaking?

    WTB Inline Oxygenation

Best case scenario would be if one of you enterprising folk that build them would contract-build me one... preferably with a .5 micron stone. Thanks! - Rich richbuceta at yahoo dot com

Craft beer bars: the issue I have with them

Hey, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool craft beer drinker and have been pretty much since my college days. BUT what I don't like about the average craft beer bar is the offerings they generally have - the majority of the offerings will be 6.5 - 7% ABV plus beers, and they go up from there. I kinda...

Sorachi Ace Hops - What have you done?

Hmm, I don't think it's a good match for a Schwartz beer, it'd be too strong a flavor for that type of beer.

Sorachi Ace Hops - What have you done?

I'd say it's probably a good fit for a Saison. (Rules are made to be broken beerookie!) But I will say I don't get the lemon-flavor thing at all from that hop. I'd say it's more of a bright resiny flavor. But not lemon.

What is your reaction when you discover a 'local' beer is actually contract brewed?

This to me is one of the main issues. I have never found a contract beer to taste as good as the initial version that was made in the small, local brewery. Blue Point is one example. Southampton another. I won't go into Brooklyn because the stuff that comes out of Utica I think is very...

What is your reaction when you discover a 'local' beer is actually contract brewed?

BTW, I was only referring to breweries, not brewpubs, which is clearly odd if they don't make their own beer. Interesting thread for me, I thought for sure there would be a groundswell of support for not contracting, but clearly not the case.

What is your reaction when you discover a 'local' beer is actually contract brewed?

    Wow, I didn't think the 2 worlds intersected! :-P

What is your reaction when you discover a 'local' beer is actually contract brewed?

A lot of great perspectives here. My 2 cents is it does matter to me. What I like about craft beer is it is about more than mere product. It is a labor of love, passion, blood, sweat and tears. And for the practitioners that have made it on their own, with their own hands and hearts, well, I...

What is your reaction when you discover a 'local' beer is actually contract brewed?

Sixpoint is now brewed out of Pennsylvania. Great South Bay, Brooklyn, Southhampton, Blue Point, all contract brew as well. Brooklyn only makes a small percentage of their beer locally, but that will change with an expansion they are working on now.
