    Bru Gear

Those are both concerning. I think the relocation of those ports is directly due to the placement of the recirculation fitting. They probably went for 90 degrees offset, which they couldnt do if the handle was in the way. Pure speculation on my part, but it seems logical.

Do you know if you got the "new" style or the "old" style? I believe they were trying to increase the reach of the coil to allow less water in the pot. The "new" style should extend almost to the depth of the valve hole while the new one should require almost the entire pot to be filled to...

8 Gallon Brewcraft Buckets and Peppers?

I will tell you that hot peppers will make a plastic cutting board "unusable" for any normal use, so I would assume a bucket would do the same. This is even after multiple soaks and more than a few trips through the dishwasher. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

Where and what to drink in Chicago!

There are a lot of great places in Chicago that have already been mentioned. Not knowing where you will be staying or if you will have a car, there are a couple of other places worth checking out. Penrose in Geneva, IL (especially if you like Belgians) Pollyanna in Lemont, IL (very new...

    Stainless steel panels

You don't want to go too thin. Take a look at the thickness of stainłess steel backsplashes for gas stoves to get an idea. Too thin and any adhesive you use for mounting will telegraph through the material and you will notice it. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

New to brewing -- Keg Conversion / TIG Welding?

Welding tends to vary in price depending on location. I dont see it listed in your profile, so not knowing where you're at, it sounds like an okay deal, depending on the answers to the previous question.

DIY Bottom Drain Boil Keggle Take 2 (no welding) with 3d printed parts

Dont forget about material shrinkage. With lost wax casting, typically the wax pieces are made slightly oversized to allow for the ultimate shrinkage of the piece as it cools. No idea if and how it factors in on a piece that small, but my guess is that it will certainly screw up the threads.

    Blichmann BrewEasy

I know of at least one person with the electric system. I havent seen it run, but I have seen it in person after he brewed on it. So, something is definitely available. Maybe he knows someone, maybe he got lucky? No idea, but it is available.

Why is my pump losing prime?

I think owlys point is that the wort out port on your kettle is much smaller than the wort in. The out on the kettle needs to be bigger than the in to maintain flow (easier said than done, I suspect). The other parts don't help, but this looks to be the biggest constraint. Best Method - Barkeeper's Friend

I think the blue might be the least abrasive. It's typically sold as "no scratch". I've used them for epoxy grout removal from the faces of wall tiles where the green ones were specifically not used. Generally, if I'm cleaning my pots and pans, I use BKF and the green. If I'm wiping down...

    Advice/suggestions on brewery plumbing

So at the pump output, you would have a t-fitting to two 2-way ball valves, correct? Would it be simpler and/or cheaper to have a single 3-way valve instead? Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Adding Muriatic Acid to Caustic

Yeah, your right - I went the wrong way with that one. Reading up on this a bit more, the most recommended solution I've come across is also the simplest - massive dilution. It doesn't necessarily neutralize the solution, but enough water dilutes it to the point it's not a significant issue...

    Adding Muriatic Acid to Caustic

No arguing the math. I actually remember most of that (not sure how or why...) I don't know, though, that pH of 7 is a requirement, though, but that is me making an assumption. I'm looking to make the caustic much less, well, caustic. I don't need full neutralization, just enough to bring pH...

    Adding Muriatic Acid to Caustic

Why do you feel the need to use HCl? Vinegar is likely much cheaper and far safer. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

Hose Identification or Marking or Tagging help needed

What about single wrap of colored electrical tape near each fitting, but on the tube? You would need multiple colors, but likely not more than a few. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

Am I missing something or an Idiot?

Find the entry point to the house and trace from there. That line has to be pretty large, so you're looking for big pipe. That will be your house main. That box screams 100A subpanel from at least a 200A service feed.
