    Racking without picking up trub

Super helpful all. Thanks. I definitely did not give it time to settle before I racked. Could I use the bag I got to steep my grains in (cant remember what it is called, starts with an m) to cover the end of the hose? Thanks again all.

    Racking without picking up trub

So, I am about to rack my first brew to a bottling bucket from my glass carboy this weekend to bottle. When I racked to the secondary I picked up a good amount of trub (as is evident by the layer at the bottom of my secondary fermenter). I would like to avoid this when I rack to my bottling...

    Dry Hopping Hops Won't Sink

So, I added two ounces of hops to my 5 gallon IPA in secondary last Friday. They are still just floating on top. Is this normal? How long will it take for them to sink? I am hoping to bottle this Friday, but I don't want to until they sink. Any help would b appreciated.

    *First Post* Orange Wheat

Make sure to only get the zest not the pith (the white part), or else it will add unwanted bitterness.

    dumbest movie moments ever

Abraxas. Starring Jesse Ventura. Not only is the movie as terrible and non-sensical as Zardoz, it is also so poorly lit, there is no way to tell what is going on.

    Sweet Stout Deception Cream Stout

Word of advice: Just go ahead and start with a blowoff tube instead of an airlock. This thing has a very violent fermentation. I fermented in a 6.5 gal carboy and still had krausen pouring out of the blow off tube for over 48 hours.

How long is too long in a primary?

Thanks. This is all helpful. It is over 6% abv. I think I am gonna go ahead and leave it in there for the six weeks. I will let you guys know how it turns out.

How long is too long in a primary?

Fantastic Fellow Fermenters, I have been reading a lot about length of time a beer can spend in a primary, and I have gotten a lot of different views. I brewed a Cream Stout a few weeks back, and originally I wanted to leave it in the primary for 5 weeks before I bottled. However, looking at my...

White haze water spots inside carboy. Help?

Try lemon juice and water. Then rinse it a bunch. It worked on the same type of discoloration/stain that I got on some of my wine glasses.

I never brew beer before so I need advice on how to start.

I got a starter kit from northern brewers. It came with everything I needed. I brew exclusively indoors. I would suggest starting with a non-lager kit, just to get the hang of the process. Depending on whether you have a good home brew shop near you, you may be able to get the equipment you need...

    Do i need yeast nutrients?

I think I am just gonna throw some in, since I have it laying around. Is there any way it could be bad for the beer if I add it?

    Do i need yeast nutrients?

I am making a wit bier from extract. 6 lbs total of dry extract (3 lbs wheat, 3 lbs pilsen)I am pitching 1 bag of wheat 3944 Belgian wit. It will be a 5 gal. Batch. Do I need to add any yeast nutrients? Why or why not? I was going to add one tsp at 5 min. Thoughts?

    Show Us Your Label

Just made these on gimp. These are for my first two beers. Not sure which IPA label I will use. Also the abv on the stout will likely be higher.
