    Apa

Hey, I brewed a pale 31 clone but it turned out too bitter. Apart from a 15 g 60 min addition of fuggels I did 60g at 10 min and 60g at flame out. Also I try hopped with 60 g for 4 days. Used chinook cascade and centennial. I seem to get too many IBUs from my late and dry hope additions. Any...

    Heating element in mash tun

Cool, thanks for the reply. I it possible to have a current controller to the element so I can make the element warm instead of scorching hot? Would that be a solution? I've bought the element already so I kinda want to use it.

    Heating element in mash tun

Hey all, So I just installed a heating element in my HLT and now I want to put one in my mash tun. I want to put it above my false bottom but I hear the element may scorch the grain. Will that happen even if I stir the mash around while I switch the heating element on? I'll only be switching it...

    Re using my yeast

Hey. Yeah i got activity straight away. It's a 1 liter starter but it has like an inch of trub at the bottom. When I pitch should I put it all in or pour it without the trub?

    Re using my yeast

Thanks for advice. So this is what I just did. I poured the junk at the bottom of my fermenter into a bowl after putting the beer into a keg. So then I made a starter and put about a cup of that junk into the starter. I started pouring it and took the first runnings. It looked like brown...

    Re using my yeast

Thanks for that. I have a glass carboy, so do I tip all of it out into another container so it's easier to scoop?

    Re using my yeast

Hey, so I'm brewing a red ale at the moment with 1056 and wondered if when I transfer my red ale to keg can I dump new pale ale wort on top of it without any problems. Concerns Will the trub left over from red ale be ok sitting there for another ferment? Going from a darker beer to a lighter...

    Still muddy

So even when I put the beer from the kettle to the fermenter the wort was a light muddy colour. I brewed a pale ale, all gain. Usually it's a nice colour when transfer then it goes muddy during the first 4 days of fermenting and then clears up. but it's stayed the same now for like 6 days. I...

Using pilsner malt as base instead of pale

Hello, I want to use pilsner malt as my base malt instead of using US pale in my ipas or pales or ambers. So I just wanted to know what are the pros and cons to this and do I need to use more or less or the same compared to pale malt in my recipe. Thanks

Can i add water to my kegged beer?

Can i add water to my kegged beer?

Because I was in a rush I didn't take it, which now I'm regretting. Any advice. Will it mellow after a few weeks?

Can i add water to my kegged beer?

I did let it ferment for like 2 weeks. You think it needs more. Im pretty sure I got my water to grain ratio wrong so I didn't use enough water in my brew.

Can i add water to my kegged beer?

Probably a silly question but I thought I'd ask. So I brewed an amber ale, it's been kegged for like a week. Pulled a glass of it and it's way to malty, just a strong sweet malty taste. I know what I did wrong in the brewing but I wondered if I could somehow dilute it with letting it go flat and...
