I'm in the middle of converting to an all electric HERMS setup and am looking for any guidance or opinions anyone has between the...

power regulator vs. traditional PID question -- Newbie

yes, it will control it but is it the best option for a HERMS setup. I stumbled upon a video by Short Circuited Brewers, where Brian says a PID is better for HERMS because of more adjustment options and better more accurate parameters than a power regulator. Does anyone know if this is true or...

power regulator vs. traditional PID question -- Newbie

Im in the process of converting to electric from propane and am a little lost on the element controllers. I've set out to build a back to back HERMS system and from previous posts i've settled on getting a Auber DSPR300 for my BK. Now, there seems to be a lot of scattered discussion on the...

Intertap Flow Control Faucet -- Question

I guess it would depend on your setup. If you can easily get to your disconnects than yes, but you risk a stuck poppet and the mess that causes. I know with myself and my brew buddy getting into the faucet vs. the QD is much easier.

Intertap Flow Control Faucet -- Question

can confirm, it will not stop the flow completely. But if that's truly something your looking for you could get the ball lock spout accessory and use it as an accidental spill preventive measure

    Inkbird PID

did you try switching the probe with the one you knows works to rule out a faulty probe?

    Fermenter?

I say fill it with water and let it sit for a week. If you don't taste any off flavors after a week you're good to go. You have nothing to lose but a few gallons of water.

    Boil kettle temp probe

@augiedoggy currently I use a 20 gallon blichmann as my BK and usually do 12 gallon batches in it. I have a 185,000 - 200,000 BTU burner I use which I typically set as high as possible before the flames are lapping over the side. I never adjust the flame, simply on or off, which is why I was...

    Boil kettle temp probe

Thanks for the info. I was considering re-purposing inkbird temp controller but it sounds like a pid with more of an analog ability to manage the wattage is a better way to go.

    Boil kettle temp probe

in the process (started today) of converting to electric. I trying to see the benefit of having any type of logic involved with the BK.. is it bad practice to simply plug the element in and let it rip? I mean I too am of the logic, the BK is either boiling or its not.

Pump outlet orientation and keeping priming

My system cleans very easily. There are ball valves between all the tanks and at the pumps. All hard piping between HLT and MT are clean since there is nothing but water in them, depending on how long till my next brew day I will either leave clean water in the pipes to prevent oxidation or I...

Pump outlet orientation and keeping priming

correct. They rotated when they uploaded. The nipples point straight down to the ground

Pump outlet orientation and keeping priming

Here are the pics. I'm messing about in the brewery today so if you want any other pics let me know. not sure how these will upload, the nipples would point down and out to allow for priming.

Pump outlet orientation and keeping priming

I upgraded my march pumps to the stainless chugger inlets after breaking the plastic ones.. I have them positioned lower than the source liquid with a T fitting with ball valve positioned lower than the inlet, I use gravity to prime the pump by opening the valve. I added another ball valve on...
