How long to keg a pale ale.

I transfer from my secondary to my keg, cool for 24 hours, then add gelatin, wait a few days, carb up and drink. So I would say about 5 days.

Using Washed Yeast without a Starter

I will just take about a cup of the slurry after I transfer the beer to my secondary, and pour it into the fermenter and just add the new wort. It starts bubbling in about an hour or so.

    New plate chiller

Thanks to my sister, this huge plate chiller went from cooling milk on her farm, to cooling another item on the food pyramid... BEER..:mug: It works great, takes wort from boiling to 70F in one pass, it only used about 10 gallons of water, and took about 2 minutes. I used to use about 50 gallons...

Cascade Hops - why the backlash?

I love cascade!!! I couldn't find any for awhile, but was able to score 11 pounds from my local brewer. They have been cutting back on using them for some reason, leaves more for me I guess.:mug:

anyone have a source for bulk US-05?

If you have a local small brewery, try and ask them to get some yeast for you. I buy mine for $50 for 500g. Makes it about 86 cents a batch.:D

Has anyone used grain for The Canada Malting Company LTD?

I use their 2 row. I get it from a local brewery 30 bucks for a 55 lb bag. Tastes just fine. They actually won best beer with it.

    Doesn't make sense

Yeah, I know that is a lot of beer. I give a lot away to friends and family. They throw me a couple of bucks for grain and stuff, but I just love to do it. Thinking of starting up a brew pub sometime. NY state just passed a law that helps out the craft brewer as long as they buy some of their...

    Doesn't make sense

Once you fill a keg, and fill it with co2 do you need to keep it cold? I would like to get 4 or 5 of them to fill. My kegerator should fit at least 3. Or do you have to put co2 on it at all? I brew a lot of beer maybe 20 or so gallons a week, and would really like to start kegging.
  19. makokiller

    Doesn't make sense

yeah you might be right with the sugar. maybe I will just let it sit a little longer. it's been 2 weeks though, and normally everything is good to go by then. Looks like it is time to start kegging.:mug:

    Doesn't make sense

So I have a beer that I make quite often, but my last batch has me stumped. If I open a beer that has not been put in the fridge, and pour it into a glass, it looks and tastes just perfect. If I take and put some of the same beer in the fridge and cool it down to like 38 or so, it has no head...
