2 beers, 1 mash - Lazy man's Partigyle - What are your thoughts?

THats great. I only brewed 4 extract batches before I went all grain with a 3 keggle system. Therefore, I only steeped grains once (2nd batch), and have never had to since. I didnt realize that you dont get convertable sugars without an actual mash. I mistakenly figured... heat +...

2 beers, 1 mash - Lazy man's Partigyle - What are your thoughts?

Well, if I take 3 lbs of pale 2 row, and I tell Beersmith that I am using it as in a partial mash, it raises the OG point for me. Why wouldnt I get sugars from it if I steep it?

2 beers, 1 mash - Lazy man's Partigyle - What are your thoughts?

I am going to try to brew both of these beers at the same time, using one mash. Not really a true partigyle (because Im not seperating the wort mid sparge). But something similar. Here are the two recipes I am going make...

    Hello,

"Mr Palmer is concerned with the $1000 dollar question", HOW TO BREW BEER!?! ---John Palmer (the homebrew author) reference with ACDC bag? Anyone? Anyone? Nevermind... That was a stretch...

Vojvodina Hops - How to use it???

Actually, yes, there is a link. On Wikipedia, they are listed as a Serbian grown hop. Is there even a serbian beer? Also, do you know what strain they were designed to replace?

Vojvodina Hops - How to use it???

THe question is, why dont many people use them? Are the undesireable in any way, a newer strain, or just not well distributed? Im thinking about using it in a brown ale. Not sure if it will be good though.

Vojvodina Hops - How to use it???

I got 4 ounces of fresh organic Vojvodina hops from the wonderful people at Foothill Farms in the beautiful Stockbridge Valley in upstate NY. So, now what the hell do I do with it? I have only been able to find one post where it says that it is a higher AA english noble hop. Can anybody...

Need suggestions for 2 recipes from 1 grain bill

Thanks Revvy, but that might be a little beyond my capabilities. I want to keep this very simple (Im still under 10 AG batches...). Though, I do like idea of steeping grains in the boils to change the grains profile for each of the two brews. Do you think there is any way that I could do...

Need suggestions for 2 recipes from 1 grain bill

That looks pretty good. I have some WLP001 and some WLP002 banked. I have a ton of Cascade and Centennial for the bitter american brown. I also have a lot of Perle, Vojovadina, brewers gold, and chinook. Im not sure if any of those would work well for a brown, but I can always get more....

Need suggestions for 2 recipes from 1 grain bill

I can do 10 gallon batches with my keggles, and I want to use 1 grain bill to split and boil two seperate 5 gallon recipes, with different hops, yeast, etc... I did this a few weeks ago using the grains for a nice summer ale, then using different hops and yeasts to make 2 very different...

Pressure Canning Wort - is this right?

wow, that pic ended up big. Big pic for big win in detroit last night. Well, according to beer smith, 1 quart should have .23 lbs of DME for 1.040. This equates to .63 cups of dme, which isnt easy to measure. Also, you can exactly measure the gravity AFTER you can it, so I hope Im close...

Pressure Canning Wort - is this right?

My first shot at pressure canning wort. From what I have read, everyone says that theirs turns out very dark colored. Mine isnt, and it has a lot of trub at the bottom (more than I would have expected). I am using pilsen DME, about .75 cups per quart. I am keeping at 15 psi for about...

Distilled same as steril? Use with without boilding for washing yeast?

Quote = Rather than boil water, and cool it (which is such a god awful hassle...) That was a joke... Though, Im sure you can sense my underlying lazyness. So again, how long does it last washed in fridge, and how long does it last washed in freezer with glycerin?

Distilled same as steril? Use with without boilding for washing yeast?

Well, Im getting conflicting reports on the lifespan of washed yeast. I have read that some people can save it for 6 months, others have said well over a year. I have also seen people say just a couple months. From what I have gathered, the more trub mixed with the yeast, the less time it...

Distilled same as steril? Use with without boilding for washing yeast?

Ok, so I guess I dont get the different between being Distilled, Steril and Sanitized. They all sound pretty clean to me. So, if I boil the distilled water, will it take the oxygen out of it? Does this mean that if I used distilled water that the washed yeast will be shi*#, or that I...

Distilled same as steril? Use with without boilding for washing yeast?

I am going to wash some yeast this weekend. Rather than boil water, and cool it (which is such a god awful hassle...), I was thinking about simply using some jugs of distilled water, without preboiling them. I have like 10 of them, unopened, that will never get used otherwise. Is...

    Saving yeast question.

OK, so I wash all the yeast in my primary, and collect it all into 1 large mason jar, can I just keep sampling from this jar over the next 6 months (with proper sanitation), or do I need to seperate it into several smaller jars (vials or babyfood jars)?

    Saving yeast question.

So, if you save it directly from the starter, arent you getting a little bit of starter "trub" in the sample before you freeze it? Or, do you have to have a big batch, with hops and everything to get significant trub?

    Saving yeast question.

Ok, before you send me this link: Yeast Washing Illustrated - Home Brew Forums please read on... I have already read through the entire thread. Unfortunately, I didnt read it 3 weeks ago when I simply poured some sterilized water in the bottom of my primary, swirrled, and poured it all...

How many gallons of EdWort's Haus Pale Ale have been made?

Put me down for 10. It was my first all grain batch (got dumped because it tasted so bad.... Sorry ed), but just made it recently and it tasted awsome. 1839.25
