Set and Forget at 70 degrees then cool to 40....question

My keezer temperature is not regulated yet so I am force carbing my beer (with the set and forget method) at room temperature (70 degrees) and will later cool the beer. My question is, what temperature should I use to gauge how much psi to apply during force carbonation? 70 degrees or 40...

Can a REALLY skunky beer hurt you?

This is good information to know. Thanks! FYI: I tried it last night and it wasn't nearly as bad as I was prepared for. In fact, I rather like it.

Can a REALLY skunky beer hurt you?

I've been fermenting a poorly boiled brown ale for over 1.5 years and finally kegged it. I didn't have hopes that it would actually taste good however I want to make sure there is no potential for physical illness. Any ideas about this?

Is it bad to use Oxyclean frequently?

I have been using Oxyclean to clean my fermenting bucket, corny kegs and tubing after every use. Is this too frequent? Are there any health issues to worry about?

Question about Sanitizing Dip Tube in Corny

I need to get a bigger wrench and give it another try. If that doesn't work, I'll try to force the sanitized water up the tube and hope for the best. Thanks for all the advice!

Question about Sanitizing Dip Tube in Corny

Does anyone know how to sanitize the dip tube in a corny keg without using gas? This is my first time kegging. I haven't filled my Co2 tank yet but want to get my brew out of the fermenter and into my keg so I can start a new batch. The only problem is I'm afraid if I don't get my dip...

    Did I Ruin My Beer?

Haha, true. I will try again tomorrow then. Thanks.

    Did I Ruin My Beer?

I opened the lid of my fermenter briefly today but sealed it back on. Will my beer still be good tomorrow to siphon into a keg? Or do you think that the oxygen has ruined it? I am kegging my beer for the first time and realized after opening the lid of the fermenter that I wasn't fulled...

Is DIY kegerator/keezer more cost effective or just fun?

I've been reading about how to build a kegerator or keezer and after bargain searching for the supplies I still find that I'll need around $500 to make the thing. Alternatively I have found functional kegerator's selling for $500. The question is: If DIY kegerator/keezer costs about the...

    Leaky Home-made Wort Chiller

Bobby M, I'll check prices for the compression to NPT...although first I need to figure out what NPT means. National pipe thread is my best guess based on google search. Sorry...I'm obviously not so handy. :-(

    Leaky Home-made Wort Chiller

What do you mean you flared the ends? Inward or outward?

    Leaky Home-made Wort Chiller

I made a 50' copper wort chiller and the connection between the copper tubing and vinyl tubing is leaking (water-in/sink side). I used a hose clamp to connect the tubing but it doesn't seem to be strong enough to prevent a leak. Does anyone know a better way to connect the two so that...

    BoilerMaker vs Stainless Kettle...and more

What does "IC", "CFC" and "DMS" mean? I'm not so good with the acronyms.

    BoilerMaker vs Stainless Kettle...and more

Thanks guys! I didn't specify before but I already own a stainless steel kettle for brewing and have brewed 2 batches thus far. I find that chilling the wort in my bath tub takes WAY too long and adds cost for the ice. I'll go with a wort chiller for now and move on from there.

    BoilerMaker vs Stainless Kettle...and more

Newbie here with several questions: 1. What is the benefit of a BoilerMaker vs a Stainless Kettle. There must be something significant that I'm missing seeing as how the price variance is absurd! 2. I am using malt extract as opposed to all grain brewing right now and am slowly building...

    Burner Help!

I assume there must be some sort of drawback to doing a partial boil else why wouldn't that be standard protocol? Do either of you know of any drawbacks to the partial boil method?

    Burner Help!

I've got a sub-par stove in my apartment that is not capable of boiling 5 gallons of liquid. I am now looking to buy a burner that can: 1. Bring large volumes of liquid to a boil as quickly as possible. 2. Be used indoors without significant risk of burning my apartment to the ground...
