I am keeping it now at 74, which hope it helps. Live in FL and its hot hot outside, eventually will get Johnson controls for a college fridge but for now swamp cooling it.

    First brew question/issues

I am making a lagunitas IPA clone for my first brew and I think it's going well. A few possible concerns though. I steeped my grains for 45 mins and the temp went from 150 and got up to 180 at the highest before I dropped it back down. Hopefully not a huge deal I didn't have my brew pot...

    wort cool down

I brewed for the first time this weekend and used a wort chiller. It worked great reducing it to around 90, but seemed to stall there. So I added wort to carboy and added spring water to reach my 5 gallons. It dropped the temp enough as well

    keg coupler connection

Here is a photo of what is connected to the end of the beer lines

    keg coupler connection

Ok the issue is that the sankey screw on connection is directly on the beer line, which will have to be removed. A quick connect option exists from the barbed swivel nut on the beer line to the sankey connection but not the other way around.

    keg coupler connection

Mind posting a photo, I don't quite visualize how it works

    keg coupler connection

I think it comes default with perlick faucets. I will cut them off if that's tr only way. I was hoping there may be some sort of connection that could connect into this commercial fitting and then connect to ball lock. So if you ever did get a full keg, you could quickly disconnect

    keg coupler connection

My new faucets came with a connection that would go to a normal keg fitting, by screwing on. However, I have ball lock corney kegs instead. Does a quick connect device exist that converts the commercial keg connection to a ball lock? Or do I really have to just cut off and put on the ball...

    Racking from primary to secondary

Not worried about picking it up, but the shaking of the carboy during the movement for sediment and oxygenation. It will be my first time so I might be overly cautious

    Gas Line Barbed Connections only?

I think I answered my question, it looks like MFL are the threaded variety connection.

    Racking from primary to secondary

I think pressurizing the carboy would scare me away as a rookie. Maybe I am worrying too much about temporarily lifting it up to a higher level for the racking to secondary.

    Gas Line Barbed Connections only?

So I am a 1st timer getting started with my equipment and seeking to go with threaded connections instead of barbed for ease of cleaning for my ball lock connections. Are connections for CO2 only barbed? I am looking at c02 splitters and all mention barbed. Is it because you never clean Co2...

    Racking from primary to secondary

Thx for the response. How much would it mix up the sediment picking it up from the floor to 4 foot or so for the auto siphon to works.

    Racking from primary to secondary

It's amazing how the secondary method seems to be not worth the trouble according to various posts and people.

    Racking from primary to secondary

How do you avoid the sediment getting pushed? Just not put the cane down into it?

    Racking from primary to secondary

Thx for the article and the idea. What are the potential downsides? Would the dry hops create any issues, since its my opinion that it would get done in the secondary. However not carried over into the corny keg or bottles.

    Racking from primary to secondary

Thx for the great advice, but if I was to consider a secondary later down the road. How do people get around this issue? I have seen pushing it via co2 , but wasn't sure how easy it is. I won't be bottling and will be going into a corney

    Racking from primary to secondary

Do people dry hop also in the primary?

    Racking from primary to secondary

Hello everyone, I am preparing for my first brew in the near future but running into some setup issues so looking for assistance before I begin my first. Here is the deal. I live in Fl and its about 90 degrees right now and I have my house AC configured to stay at 79 degrees, which is not a...
