Weldless fittings - intermittent leaks - fix?

I've changed o-rings after a leak emerged sometimes because I figured it was worth a shot. The Blichmann weldless fittings are well designed, in terms of not leaking, I agree. I did find their bottom dump valve on Fermenators to be too narrow and prone to clogging, so I widened the hole and...

Weldless fittings - intermittent leaks - fix?

I've had various weldless fittings on all of my vessels for over a decade and have brewed with them countless times. Normally they are fine, but sometimes they leak, which has gotten annoying. I use the more premium fittings, keg lube and change the o-ring from time to time. I have also tried...

    Airlock options for no-chill?

Just cracked the ball value a bit as I could not find a better solution. I will note any issues if they arise.

    Where do you buy malt?

If there is a local or regional club you can join, that's probably your best bet if you want to avoid paying retail. Wholesale prices are way lower, but typically the minimum order is 40x 55# bags. It comes on a pallet.

    Airlock options for no-chill?

I have approximately 24 gallons of hot wort in a stainless conical. My plate chiller was apparently ill equipped to handle the amount of hops I used in the boil. What is a good airlock option because it will contract as it cools gradually overnight. I am thinking of just leaving the ball valve...

    $7: Simplest cheapest element enclosure?

Ok. I'll put a check mark in the "this is a bad idea" column.

    $7: Simplest cheapest element enclosure?

I see lots of element enclosures of varying complexities.... why not just cover the back end of the element with a couple coats of liquid electrical tape.... not sure if genius or stupid. Thoughts? This would obviously not be suitable for applications were the cord might be pulled or stressed...

Sickly Centennial plant. Anyone have theories? (photo-heavy thread)

Open some of the curved ones up to see if there are bugs. It may he an infestation where the larvae is laid in the leaf. If so you can spray or potentially try ladybugs.

Does a tri clamp to camlock valve exist?

https://www.ontariobeerkegs.com/ They have what you are looking for. I bought some for myself recently.

What else do you "brew" (and keg non-alcoholic)

Carbonated water and hoppy soda are great. And I tried carbonated coffee, but it was awful.

Wort/Beer line cleaners?? What would you recommend?

I've had my current 50# pail of it for about 4 years and no concerns, however I keep it sealed so that humidity can't get to it. I used it today and it works just as well as when first bought.

Wort/Beer line cleaners?? What would you recommend?

PBW is great. If you can get a 50# pail you will save a ton on $$$ vs retail.

Is there a silicone lid seal for 27 gallon Fermenator?

I have an older style Blichman 27 gallon Fermenator circa 2013 that I am turning into a boil kettle. Is there a silicone option that would work for the lid? Plan is to boil with the lid on and a steam condenser. Alternatively, does anyone know if the OEM seals can handle boiling temps for an...

    Poppet question

Five is correct... something I unfortunately discovered when cleaning, I had all five types accross 20 kegs. I replaced them all with universal poppets. Very happy with that decision.

    Tool to measure abv?

Correct... unfortunately... the measurement problem ended up being a giant PITA, but brewing ultra low abv is actually working pretty well.

    Tool to measure abv?

By way of update, I ended up just brewing very low gravity milds and apa's. Simple, easy. 2.5-3.5% abv. Works well. Makes a good alternative tap to my IIPAs, lol.

    Greenlee 1-5/8 Knockout Punch

Did you have any luck finding one? Amazon.ca has it for $300 CDN, but that's a little steep IMHO. Trying to find one myself.

Conical Fermenter: Also as Boil Kettle?

Does anyone have experience using a conical fermenter also as a boil kettle with a stainless element? Where did you mount the element? I have a dilemma regarding my 3v E-HERMS... between not having people over with the pandemic, generally drinking less, and wanting to reclaim some space, I'm...

Help me design better mineral water

TBH, my efforts to make a Pelli clone were not as successful as I had first hoped. The water was good, but it was definitely not a clone. What I do now is divergent from that taste profile, but it is easy and makes tasty water: just adding 2 teaspoons of gypsum per keg with my municipal water.
