Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

@couchsending I used table salt yesterday too. I drink plenty of bottle conditioned beers that don't have a soft mouthfeel. Treehouse has perfected their chemistry.

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

I've worked with a lot of different yeast over the last couple of years. I worry about diacetyl, as every brewer should, but I feel like if you know what triggers create it - what to look and taste for - how to fix it, then there should be little worry about it carrying through to the final...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

Honestly there was too much yeast in suspension for me to tell. Nothing that jumped out at me though and I'm always looking for that Treehouse softness.

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

I brewed today - pitching the main 3 yeasts on this thread based on Strasser's recommendations and a schedule I came up with trying to maximize ester production. 10 gallon batch day 1 - 1/2 packet wb-06 at 74* (pitching at 85* and letting temp fall to 74) + 24 hours - whole packet s04 and...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

It may be worth noting that CBC-1 is said to be great for fermenting under pressure. This gives credit to dry hopping and natural carbonation in the tanks before the beer is done.

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

Hello guys. I've read through this thread twice now as I'm so geeked out on what you're doing here. Trinity Brewers is my website, I haven't posted in here. I just went through a good amount of TH beers and left Bright out of the sampling because to me, it tasted very clean like an American...

Good Grain Bill Combos for IPA

Ha there's so much to learn. I'm trying to stay away from wheat and oats in this particular recipe for very little reason other than taking the road less traveled. I plan to use CalAle yeast but am not married to it. Typically I like a pale ipa as well, but I'm hopping on the east coast craze...

Good Grain Bill Combos for IPA

Thanks for the feedback. The 6 row was in hopes that the extra proteins might stay suspended keeping a full bodied, non-clear finished product. How off am I on that? Also since it has a little more flavor, that would compliment the flavorless sugars that will ferment away. The Special B was to...

Good Grain Bill Combos for IPA

How do you feel about this grain bill? I need a critique on it. It fits your leftovers. You could throw your crystal into this and not even know it was there. 74% 2 Row Pale 18% 6 Row 3.7% Carapils 1.3% SpecialB 3% Candi Sugar/Clear Adjust accordingly for your crystal addition for a DIPA at 5...

    Horrible off flavor.

I can't speak to your water, but since I quit using tap water and started using local bottled spring water my brews taste night and day different.
