    First brew!

Volume is one of the hardest things to dial in. The more you brew the more you know your system, notes are the best way to make the changes you need to bottle a full 5 gallons.

    Crazy question here, just sayin

Have you brewed before? Plastic all the way, they wont kill you.

    Did I break my tap?

Why didn't you use the jam nut to properly position the tap handle. It would be impossible to align all the different tap handles out there without the nut, unless you over tighten, which sounds like you did.

    Splicing 50A Circuit

The insulated mechanical splices are your best bet for elegance. They are great, wouldn't hurt looking at a big box store for them, most are universal like 14ga to 1/0.

    CFC Sanitizing

In the past I have filled my sink up with warm PBW solution and used a small submersible pond pump to recirculate the solution through the CFC. Then Ill do the same with water to rinse out the chiller then gravity feed some starsan in. I never really had an issue with this just took some...

    Splicing 50A Circuit

Remember that where the junction is, it must be accessible. You can splice, just take care that when you strip the wire you don't nick any conductors and use proper splices, like split-bolt connectors (which you can get a HomeDepot you just have to properly insulated) or if you have an...

    Plugged mash tun

Too fine of a crush can kill you too... Ive honestly found rice hulls really aren't a game changer. If you have problems before, they wont magically fix it. They can help, but are usually used when the mash has the potential to be more "sticky" than usual. Ive had sparge issues with rice...

    Simple Sugars and Appley/Cidery Off-flavors (I know, I know...)

Used it before an had no issues with cidery off flavors. How are you measuring your fermentation temperatures?

    I couldn't wait...

Also don't get discouraged when it ends up not so clear. If you put them in the fridge and really let them chill more than an hour or so, you will prolly develop chill haze.

    E-Stop 110v Panel??

SSR's fail in which ever state they were in last and switch contacts can stick. If you use them to control pumps, elements, or anything else and need to shut it off then the e-stop would be the quickest to save the equipment. Its not always about saving you, but maybe just the equipment, or...

    Brewmaster's Warehouse

Went in there once when Doug from Just Brew It was on vacation. They had just enough for me to get enough for a Bells Two Hearted clone I came up with. Just Brew It recently changed owners, but man they have a hell of an inventory and great shop. They are really trying to ramp up the...

    Ginger Beer Stop from Explosion

I don't think the people commenting know what the OP is talking about... He wants to sweeten like someone would with a cider. If you completely ferment it will be dry and will not have the sweetness you desire. You have 2 options, let it ferment completely and use a un-fermentable sugar...

    Ginger Beer Stop from Explosion

https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f32/easy-stove-top-pasteurizing-pics-193295/ This is done with ciders all the time. I suggest using a grill outside just to be safe. Also make sure you check every bottle for cracks or defects.

    please critique my APA recipe

I thought the opposite. I almost wondered why even use the crystal at such a small percentage.... Now that looks like a good grain bill.

    PLC temperature inputs

You can get a 4 channel analog input (4-20ma) for less than 100$ and use a signal conditioner or temperature transmitter. How much you looking to spend?

    First time Dry-Hopping

For those who say dry hopping adds no flavor, pop a pellet in your mouth and let me know how it tastes... If you taste nothing then I guess your right. You have to be careful because it can add a grassy and or vegetal taste if done too long, too much, or wrong hop selection.

    Automation Start Build

What temp probes are you using? If thermocouple I wouldn't use RJ45 connectors, they make special connectors for thermocouples.
