Can you dry hop right after pitching yeast?

My instant thought is the CO2 from fermentation will drive out the hop aromas.

Why is my beer so carbonated?

When I did bottle, I would clean them in the sink then fill with a little StarSan and shake them. When it came time to bottle I would once again shake it and dump the StarSan and fill. When you fill it will push the little foam left in the bottle out. Properly diluted StarSan is of no concern...

Why is my beer so carbonated?

Did you take gravity readings? SG and FG?

    Gas side pin lock leak

Have you sprayed a soapy water solution to find the exact spot that’s leaking? Can you pressurize the keg and remove the disconnect and see if the keg holds pressure?

    Grain Taste and Smell

The FG of the kegged beer seems pretty high, what was the recipes expected FG? What are your mash temperatures?

    Grain Taste and Smell

Your probably tasting the flaked grains and Cara Pils and covering any noticeable alcohol flavor . What are your hops? What have your FGs been?

    5 years later...

Finally brewed again. We ended up moving and lost all my brewing space. Finally built a garage and got everything set back up with some improvements. Man has this place slowed down.

    Signs of bad batch? Urgent-ish

If it has alcohol in it then you are fine, nothing can make you sick, unless you added chemicals or other potential poisons.

    Odd looking beer/no krausen

Yea just wait. I thought this was an extract kit not all grain. If you boiled your grain there is no telling how this will turn out, atleast its just a gallon batch, but I expect for FG to be way high and the beer to taste bitter/puckery from the tannin extraction of boiling the grains. Get...

    Odd looking beer/no krausen

Most extract kits ask that your "rinse" the grains with 170 degree water to make sure you get full extraction of the steeping grains. You are picking up color and sugars from the steeping and a rinse of warmer water will make sure you get all of the good stuff out of the bag. Your not mashing...

    Odd looking beer/no krausen

No clue, let it finish and give it a shot, but a light boil is still a boil. It is way to hot and will extract tannins and nastyness. I honestly think what your are seeing is everything starting to settle and looks more drastic than it really is.

    World Class

    What were your 4 batches?

    Odd looking beer/no krausen

You steep the grain in water around 150 degree then rinse your steeped grains that are in the bag with 170 degree water. Then remove the grains and throw them away. Bring to a boil and start your hop additions. You are using a grain bag correct?

    Odd looking beer/no krausen

This is prolly going to sound like a dick, but it depends on atmospheric pressure, so stop calling the boiling point 212F.

    My first brew day today!

Your beer is probably 80-90% done fermenting and is slowing down. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jzT_KTTZ0Q

    Low alcohol %

Dude if you drink that beer more than a glass at a time you intestine will explode from the gas created by drinking pure starch water.

    Beer Clarity without finning

Appearance is only 3 points out of the judging sheet, so even if it looked like crap, was cloudy, and way to dark or light, it could still be a great beer and reflect with the score. It's just all about making the best beer possible, no one likes a chill haze laden beer :cross:. It doesn't...

    Who made that recipe?

    Beer Clarity without finning

Because its about brewing the best beer possible, if the style of beer you are brewing's class calls to be clear, and its not, then something is wrong to a certain extent. That is why judges try to see if they can read the writing of a pencil through your beer or shine a light and look at...
