    Cleaning Carboy

Hi Everyone, So, I am the only one I know who cleans their carboy through manual scrubbing with dish soap. I use the wide mouth carboys and I scrub / wash it, soak it in star-san and fill it on brew day. Any harm with this cleaning process?

Mash temp just jumped up to 180F

Hi, The forums went down for a little bit but I wanted to share that the beer was "bubbling", the issue is that the air-lock's water was just a ml too low and the gas was escaping. I filled it with water / star-san and the bubbles where roaring out of it yesterday.

Mash temp just jumped up to 180F

Not yet! I am just leaving it be right now, that, and I cannot find anything but a siphon to take a sample.

Mash temp just jumped up to 180F

Well, this was one of the influences to why I did let him take control. I did everything up to the mash. We also had the smoker, BBQ and stove going for dinner. My girlfriend came down and asked my friend "Learning to brew", in which the remark was, "Seems like a 1 man process to me so far"...

Mash temp just jumped up to 180F

So I am not seeing any bubble activity but I will keep checking up on it. I assume the conversion basically did not happen. I lost my iodine in a move and confess to not be using it to check conversion but I am buying a bottle right now.

    BrewToad Or BeerSmith *Worth it*?

Hi Everyone, Ok, this is a wide open topic. Right now I am actually shopping around on HomeBrewTalk for my recipes and I just follow along and I have not had much trouble from this process. I have come across many people using a program call BeerSmith, which on the outlook - seems decent...

Mash temp just jumped up to 180F

Unfortunately not - this brew was poorly handled. I am not overly worried, I have a free carboy and if nothing shows any activity soon - I will start another brew.

Mash temp just jumped up to 180F

Dammit, I did see what I thought looked like a joint - dam beer getting high. You make them but life just changes them.

Mash temp just jumped up to 180F

Hi, So - now that I am not on my mobile / trying to dealing with the problem, I have the opportunity to be more specific. The story is simple, I had a friend who wanted to learn the process of brewing beer. We did everything up to the mash as described by the recipe but as I attended to the...

As if we are drinking beer that came right from the fermenter.

Ha ha! I am not even more excited by this brew - I am trying to resist the temptation of drinking it too early.

As if we are drinking beer that came right from the fermenter.

Well, if people are excited with my pre-bottle conditioned beer with priming sugar - it will be a good time in a couple of weeks.

Mash temp just jumped up to 180F

Should I try mashing for another 30 mins and the right temp? I don't have any iodine to test conversation.

Mash temp just jumped up to 180F

Yeah, it is not even on the heat source anymore. It is just keeping its heat. Honestly I am not overly passionate at this stage to hit the brew on target. I just want drinkable beer.

Mash temp just jumped up to 180F

Hi, So I started my mash and it just jumped from 140F to 180F. The brew is suggesting 156F and I am having trouble bringing it down. What will be the result of this?

As if we are drinking beer that came right from the fermenter.

Hi, A little bit of a drunk post but I was bottling beer and my friends like the taste right out of the fermenter, they grabbed a pitcher and away they went lol.

    Bringing to boil

Hi Everyone, This is a question spawn from another thread I was ready about bringing wort to boil uncovered. First, I want to explain that my stove cannot bring my volumes to boil and thus I use a propane burner. Since my garage has a car in it and storage, it is not practical to brew in my...

    Ok after a week?

Ok, Listen to me carefully because this is terrible! The Yeasts are your troops and you have foreign invaders, if not directly by the way of the Ninja. You need to go your local video store and get "Honey I shrunk the kids". Study it, learn it. Next build yourself a shrink ray and don't...
